^^^ I agree with RRSTDV8 but remember your consumer rights cannot be taken away. Issues like this within a year will almost certainly be deemed as repairs and thus the seller is responsible for rectification.

They sold you the car so that's who your contract is with, any 3td party insurance you have taken (whether directly paid for by you or included in the price of the car) can only add to your rights. (government web-site has some good info on 2ndhand car buying and your rights).

It's worth being nice to you dealer but at the end of the day you need them to recognise that they are the ones on the hook; anything upstream is good for them but not necessarily your problem.

air compressor also wont be covered as they are claiming someone has jacked it up on the casing...sent this straight on to the dealer i bought the car from.

waiting to hear what contribution is to be offered by land rover and then take from there.

will check out the government website link Thumbs Up

nightmare first experience with JLR warranty to say the least

Main difference is that manufacturer's warranty (from new to 3 years old) is from LR whereas Approved Extended is provided by a third party Car Care Plan. Both exclude "fair wear and tear" but generally, looking at other people's experiences, you have a better chance of costs being covered more easily with manufacturer's warranty.

Having said that, I have had compressor, bushes, drop links, EPB module, CD player all replaced easily under approved extended warranty. Apart from the CD player throwing an error on every disc, none of the other items had completely failed and was just pre-emptive maintenance. The only "issue" was that the company had to send somebody out to verify and approve the claim due to the total cost (around £2,400) but it went through fine.

Personally I think all your items should be covered by the warranty apart from the boot latch may be.

With both warranties, you get the backing of LR Customer Services as long as the car is maintained and serviced according to LR schedules and guidelines. I found Pete@LandRover on this forum very helpful with a certain issue - have you tried contacting him yet?

thanks for that - wasnt aware there was a LR representative on this forum, or a customer services sub section for that matter.

UPDATE just now is that the warranty dept still don't want to pay for any of it, however land rover customer services are going to make a contribution of 75% to cover; boot latch, fuel gauge and gear box adaptations.
I think this is pretty generous from Land Rover but still miffed by the warranty dept lack of support.

The compressor nobody wants to know about as apparently it's been jacked up on and damaged the casing / brackets etc.. I'm speaking to the dealer i bought it from as it's always sounded like this so must have happened prior to be purchasing it.

is it true you can't just buy the casing/surrounding and need to buy the whole compressor kit (at £850?)

Don't know which compressor components can/can't be bought separately. If the compressor has been damaged by jacking the car up at the wrong point then Car Care Plan are justified in not paying for it. As you say the supplying dealer should sort it out. Now I remember the first thing I was asked was "Has it had a flat tyre sir? The reason we're asking is because often people jack it up under the compressor or reservoir instead of the provided jacking points in order to change the wheel".

UPDATE

Getting the car back this week - have missed it so much Big Cry Big Cry

LR Customer Services have agreed to pay 75% of the total costs.
The remainder is being picked up by the dealer who i purchased the car from - Hatfields Land Rover in Liverpool who have been sensational with their customer service / after service. Not only are they picking up the remainder of the bill but also paying 100% of the cost of a new compressor without quibble.
If anyone is wanting a RR I would seriously recommend visiting these guys. I am now going to solely deal with them and they are over 220 miles away from me! Hopefully that says it all... Thumbs Up

Still slightly mindful about other warranty issues and the fact that it's so difficult to get them to pay out.
Need to think about who I extend the warranty with as I originally thought LR would be a no brainer ... Confused
