Fuel flap unlocking squeal!

Started getting a little squeal when unlocking the car, if I put my ear close to the fuel flap it sounds like it's coming from there. Any ideas what this can be? Is it easy to get to this? Any help greatly appreciated saving me a trip to the dealers.

Thanks, Andi

can it be the locking pin that goes into the fuel flap? Possibly spray wd40 on the end of the locking pin? Maybe its the fuel flap actuator that it is on its way out. 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)

Thanks for the reply, I have given it a good coating of WD40, but I think it is the actuator that makes the noise. Do you know if it's easy to get to?

Pull the flap off inside the boot, you should be able to see the cable etc from them, you might need a torch. 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)

Did you find anything? Sit in the boot with the tailgate shut then operate the remote locking. You might see or hear more looking into the area where the actuator and cable are located. 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)

Sprayed wd40 all over the locking pin then all around the cable etc inside the panel and the squeal has gone. Thanks for the help mate. Thumbs Up

Almost definitely the actuator, if you put your ear to the car, just above the fuel flap and to the right, that's where the sound comes from. Strange thing is, it only seems to do it in the morning!!

try to use a heavier oil that "grips" to surface, like white motorcycle chain grease, they sell it in cans, that are liquid to penetrate and after a while it gets harder and tacky, the helps a lot avoiding squeaks when WD40 dont do the trick.
