All I can say is I've sold a lot of cars and 4x4s private and the rest have been px'd and never been asked for FMSH ever by private buyer or salesman Confused

A local LR dealer to me has a non franchised 4x4 centre where they sell LR and non-LR stock - I have bought from both branches - e.g. bought a new LR at franchised dealer was told I had to have services there while under warranty and couldn't use their other branch - another time buy a nearly new from the other branch with remainder of warranty and told I can have it serviced at either branches Shocked

Reality when I came to change was neither branch checked the service book or asked who serviced it - only question was "has it had all its services" Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Wow, varied opinions then. My dealer told me if I was to part ex with him for another RRS and it did not have a full LRSH that he could not put it on his forecourt and would be sold off at auction etc as he could not put warranty on a car where he was not 100% that indy had used genuine parts oils and so on, therefore he could not give me as much for it, has anyone had this before or is it BS. Current Volvo XC90 R Design T8
Gone 2010 TDV8. Stornoway Grey
Gone VW R50, AUDI S8, ML320 Sport, FFRR V8
Stolen 2007 TDV8.

If we're talking businessmen then we also can't leave out the role marketing has to play in selling a car. Take pics when its detailed, explain where it's been serviced, show the engine bay, if its got 8mm of tread left then shout about it as you've gotta try and stand out from the crowd.

As for facebook I dont have it but I do have twitter

Not losing sleep over it really, was just wondering about other peoples experiences. I think I am heading towards indy now, not about the money really but it does help. Main reason is the completely different conversations you can have with several local LR dealers about service prices, deals and what need doing.
Why do we keep buying these cars and putting up with this s..t Question oh yeah there brilliant Thumbs Up Current Volvo XC90 R Design T8

We need a price comparison site, but they'll probably collude and bang goes that idea! Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

I despair with some people.

We're not talking business men or about vac's! He asked will he have issues when he comes to sell his car.

Top and bottom is it not having main dealer service history will put some people of as you have effectively saved yourself some money on its servicing. Some won't give a Censored it's got no service history at all.

Some won't buy it if it doesn't have a sunroof, some won't buy it if it does have one as it will only leak!

Some won't buy it with aftermarket wheels or some want aftermarket wheels.

Some won't buy it if it's been run on supermarket fuel.

As it's been said you will never please everyone just like this forum but IMO if the cars already got full main dealer history then what's a saving off £300 when running a sport. Let's face it nothing is cheap on these things.

Would it put you off buying a car if someone has fitted budget tyres on the sport? Well it would to me as if they are saving money on important things like that then what else have they been saving money on?

Just to clarify the Indie I used for the FL fits genuine parts if you want to keep LR happy in the event of a failure/goodwill scenario Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

i think he's asking how to achieve maximum value when he sells his car. explaining that it's more than just a flrsh stamp is pretty smart of us in fact! will an extra £300 on service give me an extra £400 when i sell it? i doubt this is the case. i'd rather spend that £300 on a detail or to replace a worn tyre. if you can't see how these things are interconnected then we think VERY differently, that's obviously a very good thing, but I do know that the OP is listening and that's the main thing here Thumbs Up

now, i've had a tough week trading the eurodollar, I need to give my brain a rest Smile please don't despair, it's not good for the blood pressure Very Happy

But you're not skimping on your pride and joy. You're getting it properly serviced by someone who knows what they're doing but doesn't need to charge you £100+ / hour just because he has a LR logo above the door.

If anything, going to an indy is likely to result in more stuff being done in a timely manner because it's cheaper to do so. So it's actually better care of you P&J, not skimping. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

it's a little comical when someone comes along and starts TELLING PEOPLE how to answer a question in the way they deem appropriate, or in this case TELLING YOU THAT YOU'VE ANSWERED IN TOTALLY THE WRONG WAY. it's like being at school again, the forum police!!!
