Order brought forward

My supplying dealer phoned yesterday to say my car is now scheduled for delivery last week of June from the 20th July , must say the trade in figure for my 2013 BE is a lot less than I was hoping which goes I feel to prove the older shape is starting to drop its value sharply ,

Or they see an opportunity to really bring in some cash by having a big margin on a relatively new trade in... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yes you are probably right , I feel a £10000 drop in 9 months a big dip considering the car was pre reg and I bought it with £9000 already off , some friends of mine purchased a red edition sept 2012 £57000 value now £36000 , these are cap guides so I suppose that's how it is , my gripe is they valued mine at the end of February for £5500 more than the latest valuation before I sign on the line going this morning to look at a Volvo xc60 d5 lux for the mileage I do 6/7 k per ann it may make more sence yes I am outraged. Me too..in 2010 I gave up a RRS for a xc60 with all the extras. I missed the RRS so much ordered a new RRS for sept delivery, The XC60 is a good car one of those "does what it sais on the tin" just doesn't give you that grin factor, I am hoping the RRS will give me that back. Lost loads on the Volvo too.

There's a scarcely believable 4300 FFRR and RRS for sale on Autotrader at the moment, more RRS than FF. True, there's that many Freelanders too but we're talking a different market segment.

That might be another reason why UK supply of the new cars is so restricted. If there was free supply, existing cars would depreciate even more than they have already.

Seems to me the used market for these things is saturated so if you are buying into it, make sure you get a good deal or walk away. Mark

In 1980 I bought a black , black interior rs 2000 6 months old I kept the car just over 2 yrs and lost £50 purchase price £ 4250 sold for £4200 , ever since I've always had a good smacking , that said I bought my xtrail one owner from new off ebay for £1950 3 yrs ago being offered £1200/£1400 for it now that is cheap motoring , just going back to the rr in February the trade in value was £5000 less than I paid 5 months earlier ( that was end of feb) now 3 and a bit months on the trade in figure is £10000 less than I paid or is it a case of car here in 3 weeks that's the price we are giving you and you just accept it decision time I feel it's just left a bitter taste

That gets my vote. Offer a reasonable trade in value to entice you to order and then cane you when the deal is to be done. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Zermatt Silver

I was thinking about selling my RRS AB 2013 with 6K miles and buying a new D4 HSE fully loaded. Though the sale price of these 2nd hand on Autotrader is circa 75k - 80k from dealers, I was offered 66k against a 56k purchase price. Cost new £77.8k. And you know very well it would be up on the forecourt for £76k. £10k profit for a valet, I think not! Another dealer offered £60k, and I said, 2-3k profit maybe....but £15k is taking the ****. And there's profit in the D4 for the dealer. Just greedy imho. They want you to trade up, not down.

Mind you I spoke to a guy today who lost £34 k after 4000 miles in a W12 6 litre A8!

Why do you want to change? The RRS is miles better than the D4! Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

Well it's a bit like your 'gone but not forgotten Freelander' Really liked my previous D4, and sort of missing it a bit! The RRS is miles better I agree, looks brilliant, roadholding epic. But for me it's missing a bit of soul. Perhaps I should have gone for a 5 litre s/c, and maybe that's what I'll end up doing. Otherwise the plan was to get a D4 and use extra cash to purchase a M3 convertible. If it had a bit more engine/exhaust noise I'd feel better. Acceleration 0-60 is swifter than an earlier RRS tdv8 I had, but imo it needs more decibels!!
I guess it's just a personal thing.

Bob we all need a bit more soul , before the be I had a 06 se 2.7 and yes I miss that how many times have I cursed at selling it , cold mornings on start up it roared and burbled and yes it had character and that is the most endearing factor in a car for me , it's not really about speed it's not really about handling it's what it does for you and how it makes you feel

That's not so bad unless you are going on holiday and need the car I ordered mine early October , spoke to another dealer today to try and get a comparison on my trade in , asked what the lead time is currently and he said march ! Ime still trying to get my head around the depreciation of these things I thought having a boat was bad enough like standing under a shower tearing up £10 notes but these things are ridiculous I am seriously considering cancelling mine just cannot justify the complete waste of money considering cars are not the B all and all of my life Bow down Bow down Bow down
