Keyfob battery replacement

The other day I got a warning on the dash display of my 2010 RRS that my remote keyfob battery was low.

After having a Freelander for 3 years I hadn't realised that the battery could be changed (it charges itself when inserted into its dash slot on the Freelander2), so I set about investigating how to change the battery.

For anyone else who gets this 'remote battery low' warning, below is my photographic 'how to-' on changing the battery.

You will need:
• a small flat bladed screwdriver (or similar flat bladed tool)
• a replacement CR2032 battery.

Firstly, press the release button on the top of the remote fob to allow you to insert the flat blade behind the left side battery cover. This cover is hinged at the bottom as shown in photo 2, and is held closed by a spring clip shown in photo 4.

Then prise out the battery carrier with your fingers or flat blade tool.

Remove battery & replace with new one ensuring battery is inserted as shown with negative uppermost.

Replace battery & carrier into fob.

Close battery carrier cover.

Voila!!!

No problem.

Too much time on my hands between other projects & work. Or so my wife tells me... Laughing I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.
