Air Compressor Removal

Hi
I am looking at removing my air compressor to recondition and have found plenty of info on here. The one question I have is how does the removal of the compressor affect the vehicle.
Does the suspension drop or does it hold in the position last left?
Can the vehicle be driven/ moved safely?
Can it be unplugged and plugged back in without any software update.
Any other info really welcome.
Thanks for reading.
Nick

Car will stay at height.mine did anyway. Do not drive or start engine while pump is off. New software not always required. If operates ok when reinstalled all is well.

Hi accyis, did you manage to ge the compressor off and refurb it? just looking at doing mine and to be honest its looks near impossible to get the to the fixing bolts, top one in particular let alone strip the thing down without stripping any of the threads, good old steel/aluminium corrosion for you going on there.

Cheers

Hiya. Sadly I haven't had the time yet as it's my wife's car. I was going to remove it myself and then send the compressor away for a refurb (advertised on ebay) but I would be looking at few days to turn it round. At present the access height can still be achieved once the ignition has been turned off and I still have full operation of height adjustment if I select it within 30 seconds of turning ignition on.
I may end up at my local indie garage, I suppose I'm just holding off the inevitable.
What sort of cost would you expect for a compressor replacement?

i have done a few and they are pretty easy to get off if all comes off, about 30 minutes tops but if bolts seized in and air pipes seised and need cutting off it will take you well over an hour, i have one to do on saturday thats all seized up so i will report back to let you know how long it took me to change it

That doesn't sound too bad, the fixing bolts on mine look pretty rusty. Even the bottom cover screws were an issue, only managed to undo 2 of them and had to cut off the 3rd.
Have you managed to refub any compressors or have you just swapped them out for the AMK compressor?
The more I read the more complex it looks as it doean't necessarily mean that replacing the piston seal and drier kit fixes the probelm as I understand the exhaust valve can also cause issues? Also Honda CB500 Four K2 (1973)
