Indipendant check buying a used RR sport

I am about to buy my first range rover sport, initially had been looking for a supercharger but test drove a v6 yesterday and felt it was enough power for my needs. Here is the link, what do you think?

http://www.marshallandsonmotors.co.uk/used...nds-511872

I have been looking over these forums for lots of helps and tips for buying a used car, but must admit it's all way over my head when checking everything over, is there any range rover specialists or people in the know I can pay to check over the car before I purchase...checking things like the bushes, suspension etc.

The garage I test drove one at said they are happy to correct any issues found before I buy it, they said they will get there mechanics to check it too but I would prefer someone independent.

Thanks.
Paul

make sure they have the rear bumper insert for it, backend looks very untidy around the towbar area without it, good luck and hope its the one for you

I wouldn't expect anyone's time for free, very grateful for the offer!

They have already sorted the rear end out, they are having new rear parking sensors fitted and new bushes due to some knocking....not sure if it's front/rear though.

But overall the car seems very tidy for its age and seemed to drive well in the short 10 mins I had it for, said he would put more fuel in today for a longer drive.

I am however a little concerned that the service book only had 2 stamps, he said he would do some phoning around to find out where else it has been serviced with some help from the prev owner...is this maybe a stumbling block?

Thanks for the info and help....looking forward to hanging around here from now on Smile

We had our SC for a hour on the test drive on our own, and gave it a thorough test drive and tested everything worked, a/b roads and got it on the motorway, its worth a hour of your time to get a proper feel for the car.

The service book is a major issue on a car like this and I would impress on the dealer that this would have to be sorted before buying, if there's no paper work to show services etc I'd walk away

Take peaches offer as its something I would do for a fellow member and I'm sure he doesn't mind, beer tokens could be available if that could keep people happy of course

Tony

I ended up walking away from that one as it had no service history, ended up putting a deposit down on a 57 plate tdv8 with 77 on the clock for 18500 with 12 months warranty, seems in very good condition.

Once I receive it I would appreciate some help from someone checking it over, I would drive to you of course. It is being mot'd and anything essential will be corrected.

Can't wait until next week now Smile

The diesel members would say that's a good move - the TDV8 seems to be the most popular choice - warranty is essential with these toys Thumbs Up do you have a link to your new choice Question 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Bin the wheels, they are Overfinch replicas and will have more bends than a field of bananas Whistle
Get a set of standard 20's put on the car. Plenty of OEM wheels on fleabay. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Thanks for the advice...will the existing tyres fit with the oem wheels?

Is it worth selling on the current wheels too on ebay?

They look like 22" wheels, standard are 18-20" so no tyres won't fit. There is a market for 22's so you should break even. A set of decent 20's will cost £250 plus tyres. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
