Help, starting problem

Can anyone help?
I have an intermittent problem when starting my car, every now and then when I start the car it automatically revs from 900-1500 continuously. I have to turn it off then try starting it again until it stops.
It happened the other day and I just put it in drive but when I drove off the car doesn't run smooth for a few mile then it seems to be ok.

Any ideas?

It could be coked up EGR valves, try putting the vehicle in command shift and drive at high rev at 60mph as this can clear them out, other wise you can have the EGR and manifold decoked by any decent garage

Had me car checked on the computer and one of the EGR valves wasn't moving, think ill blank these off. HALLY
