I'm sure a dealer local to me would have made them aware of it happening when their forecourt got done over, or so they told me |

Doesnt really change the fact that as you said in the other thread, they smashed the window to gain access. There is NOTHING any manufacturer can do about people who are willing to smash windows as indestructible windows do not exist and never will one of which is for safety reasons (people inside the vehicle not being able to get out in an emergency) as well as the fact that for every step to make things better, their are advancements in how to break them.

Apple have all sorts of free security measures that allow you to lock your device, trace it and wipe it - how is that comparable to being able to remove bits that cost a lot more than apple products without breaking in, no tools or the alarm sounding |

Most if not all manufacturers are aware of this key cloning issue, and have been aware of it since at least 2011 |

Without breaking in? They smashed the window!!! Sorry but you are being ridiculous. iPhones were jail broken for years, yet no matter how many times Apple tried to prevent it, it was done straight after each update they released. The fact is that Apple, Samsung, Gucci, Rolex, BMW or LR for example all make desirable products that can be stolen and they are not at fault for that yet people want to blame the wrong people for theft. They weren't just taken off the vehicle like you claim so don't spread nonsense or falsities the OP clearly states in the other thread that they smashed the windows to gain access. To those expecting LR to warn customers that theives may break in to their vehicles and steal things... Really? Get a grip! Funnily enough when I go to the bank or a cash point those b*$!@#ds don't warn me that people may try and rob my money! It is scandalous and I think the Bank of England as the ones who supply the money should be held accountable! (If you have read this and don't realise how ridiculous you are being there is no hope for you). If you don't want to be the victim of crimes, live somewhere safer, park only in secure/monitored areas, get security on your property such as gates and cameras, don't walk down dark alleys with your Rolex on display, don't buy/own desirable goods that people wish to steal, etc. Despite all of this, the producers of all of these items are not the problem, the theives are. At the risk of sounding old, society is not what it was and people will go to any length to steal things rather than earn them and that is the true problem. |

One thing that does confuse me on here... I was a long standing BMW owner and several other brands before that and during all that time, been a member of forums for those vehicles. But in all that time no manufacturer has even shown representation on them. BMW certainly won't do it and if you want a comment from them you simply won't get one unless they decide to issue a press release. Which does make me wonder about some attitudes shown on here and leads me to the question... Is this a Land Rover ran / owned forum? A quick search has shown me that it's not. So given that, I must admit I'm quite surprised LR don't take the same stance other manufacturers do and not get involved in discussions that in all honesty often are not manufacturing issues (like the actions of theives and criminals).
