Stolen Headlights, Rear Lights and Grilles - Land Rover UK

Afternoon,

So further to our saga of having our grilles and headlights stolen, along with a smashed window.
Post: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic35372-90.html

We have heard back from a manager at Land Rover UK, apparently our report is the only report of headlights and grilles being stolen!! I refuse to believe that, considering the amount it has happened in my area!

Has anyone else been in contact with LR UK and reported this?

If you have had your lights, front or rear stolen, our dealer is recommending that you DO contact and complain to Land Rover UK, the only way for a wider resolution to the problem, is if people make a deal and shout about it!

We were contacting LR UK to see whether they could offer support to owners in this situation, even by issuing a statement advising owners to have the parts pinned in, it would need to be a public statement so that the thieves knew this was the case!! We were told that it 'wasn't a manufacturing problem- so not theirs and they are sorry we feel that way!! on possibly the worst manager-level calls I have ever experienced!!

Tempted to go to Watchdog

Neutral

LR has an entire dept full of geeks who read everything posted on this and other forums, I have this info first hand after fighting with them last year using this forum as a weapon. Therefore they are well aware of the problem but it's easier to dismiss it and Censored one person off than deal with it!
You want to speak to someone in the executive office at LR not the Censored at customer service Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

I'm sure a dealer local to me would have made them aware of it happening when their forecourt got done over, or so they told me Laughing

The cleaners probably more interest in this than customers services.

Doesnt really change the fact that as you said in the other thread, they smashed the window to gain access. There is NOTHING any manufacturer can do about people who are willing to smash windows as indestructible windows do not exist and never will one of which is for safety reasons (people inside the vehicle not being able to get out in an emergency) as well as the fact that for every step to make things better, their are advancements in how to break them.

Theives are a LR problem, they are a society problem so I'm failing to see why anyone thinks blaming LR makes any more sense than blaming Apple if your Iphone gets stolen.

Apple have all sorts of free security measures that allow you to lock your device, trace it and wipe it - how is that comparable to being able to remove bits that cost a lot more than apple products without breaking in, no tools or the alarm sounding Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Any comment from Pete / should this be moved to our Land Rover Customer Relations section?

If anything, all we would like as their customers is for Land Rover to acknowledge there is an 'end user' problem that whilst outside of their control, would benefit from nominal consideration through their R&D department to establish a suitable deterrent/fix. Perhaps then contact owners with a recommendation. Stop a few sets of lights being pinched, keep customers happy, keep them interested in buying the next model etc.. 2016 VW Golf GTD DSG

Most if not all manufacturers are aware of this key cloning issue, and have been aware of it since at least 2011 Shocked So why didn't L/R address this problem when they had the chance to with the Evogue, FFRR and the latest RRS2 by going back to the old fashion key in an ignition Banging Head So what are these manufactures doing to combat this embarrassing problem? Has anyone got any ideas? It feels like their customers ie us, have been hung out to dry with no light at the end of the tunnel. Big Cry Come on Pete @ L/R customer services, give us vulnrable worried owners out here, some good news as to what L/R are doing about this major problem. Bow down Would i order another brand new RRS Question Not a cat in hells chance till L/R sorts their security issues. Advice to owners who are able to lock their sport with the button on the door handle... Use it every time AND NOT your remote. This way your remote signal will not be intercepted by a jammer.

Without breaking in? They smashed the window!!! Sorry but you are being ridiculous.

iPhones were jail broken for years, yet no matter how many times Apple tried to prevent it, it was done straight after each update they released.

The fact is that Apple, Samsung, Gucci, Rolex, BMW or LR for example all make desirable products that can be stolen and they are not at fault for that yet people want to blame the wrong people for theft. They weren't just taken off the vehicle like you claim so don't spread nonsense or falsities the OP clearly states in the other thread that they smashed the windows to gain access.

To those expecting LR to warn customers that theives may break in to their vehicles and steal things... Really? Get a grip! Funnily enough when I go to the bank or a cash point those b*$!@#ds don't warn me that people may try and rob my money! It is scandalous and I think the Bank of England as the ones who supply the money should be held accountable! (If you have read this and don't realise how ridiculous you are being there is no hope for you).

If you don't want to be the victim of crimes, live somewhere safer, park only in secure/monitored areas, get security on your property such as gates and cameras, don't walk down dark alleys with your Rolex on display, don't buy/own desirable goods that people wish to steal, etc. Despite all of this, the producers of all of these items are not the problem, the theives are. At the risk of sounding old, society is not what it was and people will go to any length to steal things rather than earn them and that is the true problem.

One thing that does confuse me on here... I was a long standing BMW owner and several other brands before that and during all that time, been a member of forums for those vehicles. But in all that time no manufacturer has even shown representation on them. BMW certainly won't do it and if you want a comment from them you simply won't get one unless they decide to issue a press release. Which does make me wonder about some attitudes shown on here and leads me to the question... Is this a Land Rover ran / owned forum? A quick search has shown me that it's not. So given that, I must admit I'm quite surprised LR don't take the same stance other manufacturers do and not get involved in discussions that in all honesty often are not manufacturing issues (like the actions of theives and criminals).

I'm saying this from a point of view that from what I've seen it is a positive thing to have a form of contact, but then you read this and from a business owner, can honestly say I wouldn't be involved on a business level in a forum. For me it's the same as when someone contacts one of my branches which each have managers, but demands my personal contact details to complain directly to me about things that so not require my interaction as I will support the managers that I put in place. They will simply get told if they are not happy with the outcome to raise it to the local manager, if they are not happy with their response then unfortunately we apologise that their expectations could not be met and wish them the best with who they chose to do future business with. Before anyone says this is bad customer service, far from it, those people are the ones that 9 out of 10, have no genuine complaint but simply want something for nothing and feel shouting and screaming will get them discounts or freebies. I do review complaints that go to managers and have yet to have genuine cause to believe I have lost good business through their actions. They get well rewarded based on their contracts and profits so they do everything they can to attract and keep custom.

So for the ramble but I fail to see why people believe they have a right to an answer from a company everytime something happens to them. Get me an official statement from Apple regarding Jailbreaking their phones and the fact it can still be done... Or ask them for details on upcoming products that haven't been officially announced... You will not get an answer. I would not be surprised if some of the above posts lead to Land Rover withdrawing from forums as there is more to be lost than gained by sayin things that people twist and misconstrue.

Two long posts in a row! Plus side is in off on holiday, fly in a few hours otherwise I wouldn't be up. Best get ready to go. Adios!

I accept in the OP above they broke the window but many others on here they didn't so was trying to point out how ridiculous your apple comparison was Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
