Actually the aerodynamic drag might be sufficient that, even in free-fall, it would reache a terminal/stead-state velocity closer to 140mph - depending on the altitude of the Herc and the air temperature at the time, angle of attack etc. etc.

For a RRS without aerodynamic aids to reach 160mph is indeed pushing it. While the standard top gear may theoretically keep the engine within its maximum rev band you'd need to ensure that maximum power is output at maximum revs; which is rarely the case.

If you just put it in a Herc and flew it around a bit you'd be doing more than 160mph and you'd be able to use it again afterwards! Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

well, why do you guys believe it is physically impossible to reach 160 M/hour.

If it equates to 260 K/hour, it must be possible

I have had a Porsche Cayenne (not that I really like that car) some 3 years ago and that car was doing 250 K/hour on the GPS.

So why should the RRS not be capable to do it!

Just to muddy the waters...

The Lamborghini Urus, their concept car, was supposed to have a 584 bhp (435 kW; 592 PS) turbocharged 5.2 litre V10 engine by Audi that included an electric motor. They planned for a top Speed 205 mph.

It is vaguely aerodynamic and wasn't 3tonnes.

I wonder if 160mph would be achievable on a rolling road in a RRS SC Question I'm not sure if RR go upto that sort of speed they are more BHP based than speed. Perhaps Pete at Bell Autos could try it out for us. Laughing
