Hi Guys,

Dad is having his Air Compressor replaced as it failed a couple of weeks ago. Went in to a private garage this morning who are doing it and was told it needs a software update from LR for the compressor to work?

Is this correct?

The car is a 2006 (55) HSE.

From other threads hereabout, that does appear to be the case, yes. They also need to replace the relay in the fuse box too - I believe it comes with the new compressor. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

hi, not all require the update. Relay yes. Mine didnt need it and works fine.

The compressor will work, as is, out the box. All the software does is write out the motor temperature reading in the ECU, as the new AMK doesnt have said sensor.

But, on some cars, the light will come on due to no temperature reading, and some are fine.
