I have just found 2 big weights either side off rear exhausts. What are they for and can they be removed |

They're harmonic mass dampers. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I've had mine removed. Some say they are there for a good reason, but vibration/sound dampening seams a bit of a silly idea, especially since mine were rubbing on the HST rear bumper ! Not noticed a single difference, except I don't hear the knocking noise anymore ! RR Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange 4.2 V8 First edition

IIRC, the rear of the body needs to be lifted, as they are one piece and go over each chassis rail |

I'am surprised you have had the weights removed with no problems , Rover I would think would have researched the gains for having them fitted 2012 RRS. Orkney Grey |

on a discovery 4 MY10, they have a nut that separate them in two, so, bumper off, loose the nut on the weights, loose the screw of the silent block, be careful with your feet (is a very heavy piece of iron!!) and you are done.
