The Active Diff makes a big diff on road if you are using the right foot on tight twisty stuff or say off an island when its damp, I have it on the FF as well but not on our 3.0 and you can tell. 2014 5.0SC AB

Thanks RRSTDV8, thats helpful. There is no indication in the L-R configurator as to whether the rear diff is in the Off Road Pack or the more expensive On/Off Road pack. Yes best I check with the dealer 'coz its an option that I think is worth having |

Funny, but I thought the Discovery4 would have been in the mix. A proper 7 seater unlike the RRS2 and X5 and a proper 4x4 unlike the GL and Q7. Funny that... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

If I was travelling (partly) on a dirt track every day I'd also be considering a Toyota Land Cruiser less likely for bits to fall off. |

I can confirm that the Off Road Pack which I have on my HSE does NOT have the rear diff lock. You can see this on the 4x4 info screen. I didn't know this and assumed that LR would put all the best off-road options into an "off-road pack". The Dynamic pack is really publicised as improving the on-road handling. I also agree that the LR Experience vehicles have the Dynamic pack fitted. Who knows how much difference it makes? Regards Malcolm |

Thats a bummer. I started off this RRS buying exercise several months ago with the idea of buying a £55k TDV6 with off road pack and a few options and now it looks like I'm going to be spending £70k on an HSE Dynamic with options and that p**ses me off on principle. With regard to the rear diff lock, all I can say is that on my Experience day, it spent an awful lot of the time flickering red although its impossible to say whether a non Dynamic HSE would have got stuck on the same route. As for the on road performance, the Dynamic I drove on the Experience day certainly handled tidily but any mildly hot hatch is still going to leave it for dead on a twisty road so for me there doesn't seem much point in speccing the Dynamic bit unless your aim in life is to see off Transit vans |
