England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

The new Q7 has been delayed again from what I understand. It was due to be in showrooms in Q2 but has been pushed back another 3-6 months.

Personally, I love the Q7 but the new one is a complete overhaul and is being built in the new Audi 'design language' - so it will be very different, making the outgoing version look very dated, very fast. LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch.

You can see the progress of the new Q7 on the AW forum here - http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2822420

In answer to the question in the thread title - RRS2 all day compared to the current Q7.

Hope that helps Thumbs Up LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch.

2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

As Daz said further up the thread, my Q7 is much more road orientated (in dynamic mode it really hugs the bends) and is a better all round car than the 57 plate TDV8.

The off road capability of zee German is never going to be truely tested by me, I'm not a green laner, but how many of the Sport owners out there do serious off road? maybe 10% I'd guess at most.
I was called on the other day to tow out a caravan that had bogged down in a muddy field. The owners FL2 had stopped and the van was axle deep (not sure if this was part driver issue but I didn't accuse him of being inept) Anyway I was slightly cautious as I didn't have low ratio available, but hitched the Audi up and it just gently pulled the van out without any drama at all. Mush to the FL2's owner's surprise, so it cannot be that bad I suppose?

Yes the steeply raked windscreen makes the car feel lower inside, I'd recommend the panoramic roof as an option which equalises this nicely. The interior is bland but functional. The seats are comfortable but not as good as the Range.
The 8 speed auto works well, I like the paddles and the way it lets you over ride the current gear and hold that for 10 or so seconds before reverting to Auto with no further switching/button pressing from the driver...handy for quick overtakes.

MPG with the new 3.0L clean diesel is a constant 32-35 with me compared to 24-25 I had in the TDV8.

Things I miss.
The soul of the Range
The adaptive lights
The power
The noise Mr. Green

Things I do not miss
Being on 1st name terms with my local petrol station attendent
Being on 1st name terms with my local dealer's Service manager Rolling with laughter
The squeeks and knocks that go part and parcel with owning a Range Rover Sport

Summary... I do like the Q7 alot and I'd probably have another...but I'd love another Sport (maybe one day) RRS gone

Yes it was certainly a surprise to me also....

The SQ5 sewed the seed, the Q7 was close enough for me to buckle...

I do wish I'd looked at a Cayene mind you... Thumbs Up RRS gone
