2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue

Hi Rich

Yes you can get a 3G/4g version of the samsung however I went down the wifi only route. When my mobile phone connects to the car Bluetooth it automatically turns on the internet sharing feature and shares this with the samsung tablet. This means I only have the one cost for my phone contract which includes unlimited 4g tetherting. I managed to get the 8.0" version of the samsung tab 3.0 for £149 from tesco direct just after Christmas.. The 4g version was around £320 at the time.

I use spotify for music and tunein radio for all my digital radio channels. For Tv I use catchup tv for freeview streaming, the Bt sport app occasionally and an application called Dvb link for any other satellite channels. Dvblink requires all sorts of extra hardware at home to allow the streaming so it's not worth doing unless you already use this for home Tv as we'll.

As far as I'm aware sky go is iPad only so that may sway your choice. Very Happy

I have also installed the Rosen rear entertainment system and through this I can stream films/tv to the rear headsets using an airplay receiver (raspberry pi) connected to the Rosen unit.

Keeps the kids quiet and allows me to watch the football when on a long drive (providing the wife agrees to drive of cause!) Laughing

Oh link to the correct iPhone to gvif would be good.

I use the aux input to listen to music as that's all I thought I could do.

If Sky go is the main reason only option in my opinion is an IPad mini. It fits over the existing nav unit if you want a less hassle install but you will need to cut the left vent for the charger cable.

Teather to your iPhone and no need for an extra data connection Smile

If you run a new aux to the top glove box fit a Bluetooth adapter and the quality of the audio from the IPad is much better especially if listening over 25 on the volume.

I mornings work and you won't regret it Smile

Reverse Cam + TV tuner supplied & fitted

I thought I'd just give a bit of a plug to Nick from Aftermarket Vehicle Accessories, who supplied and fitted a reverse camera and TV tuner for just over £500. I didn't fancy taking the job on myself! Exclamation

Nick is based in Wolverhampton, but has done work all over the place. He's a nice, honest guy and did a great job.

I actually took my Sport to him, which was a bit of a trek from where we are in NW London, but we had a (erm) nice day out and in the end it was more cost effective to get the cam & TV fitted this way.

You can contact Nick on 07544 404556

Hi Rich

You can place the Bluetooth adapter anywhere I chose the glove box as it was close to the extra aux port I ran from the passenger footwell. I also had a 12v power supply in there for the tablet anyway so it was perfect.

Has your stuff arrived for fitting now?

I will try to dig out the details of the one I got off ebay. It was cheap but works perfect although you do need to make sure the tablet volume is up fairly high. If going above 30 on the volume dial there is a slight interference sound which i think is down to the cheap electrics in it. This can be removed by adding a ground loop adapter in between the Bluetooth adapter and the aux socket, or as my wife would say by not listening to music that loud Whistle

I'll send you a Pm with the details of the adapters

Jay
