TDV8 Drivetrain Shunt

My Oct 2010 TDV8 has developed a bad drive train shunt over the last 6 months. There seems to be a lot of backlash in the drive train (seems to be bad in the rear diff). Lifting the throttle going round a corner and reapplying it or transmission shifts on trailing throttle or small throttle opennings causes a "shunt"taking up the slack. It makes the car feel very unrefined and unpleasant to drive.

The car has only 9,000km on the clock so I wouldnt expect any significant wear from normal use and it wasnt apparent for the firts 12 months of ownership. So something has changed!

The dealer has updated the transmission software but this has not made any difference and they say "its normal, nothing wrong with it Sir".

Has anyone had this problem fixed. I have almost got to the point of having the diffs rebuilt to get rid of the problem.

did you get your problem sorted at the end?
I experience the same on my TDV8 60K miles car. same on a Cayenne 60K miles I dorve the other day.

but last week I drove a FFRR with 180K miles, 10 years old and no play or shunt at all.

I eventually got the rear differential replaced (at 15,000km) about 3 months ago under warranty (2 years of effort for Landrover to agree there was a problem). The drive train shunt is 90% gone but the gearchanges are now very harsh (straight away after picking up the car with the new diff installed it was noticable) and especially especially so when the lockup clutch engages or dissengages. You can't win. You wonder what the dealer did.
