Hey up, the boss has just dropped a hint she wants to go away in April for 7 days, has anyone got any experience of nice villas, apartments or hotels they would recommend in spain or Caneries?

I can sit on the internet all night looking, but i thought i would ask here, as a recommendation would be a better bet, than finding I’m going to star in of one of them stories from holidays from hell.

Playa Blanca, i think we went there 15 years ago.

Never been to the island before, hope its ok

Went to Lanzarote a couple of years ago and stayed at the Barcelo hotel near Costa Teguise. Very nice place but my only complaint was that all the bars shut at 10:30 dead but then again we did go slightly out of season. Also across the road was the Occidental Oasis which was very nice and probably the one we use next time we go there

If you do got to Lanzarote i recommend you try the Volcan Grill in the Timanfaya national park , get your tea cooked on a real volcano


And also the submarine trip from Puerto Calero




Puerto del carmen is Lanzarote's version of Magaluf-complete with hundreds of lucky lucky men

One thing is that it can get quite windy in the canaries due to their location in the middle of the atlantic but i found it quite refreshing to have a bit of a breeze

I found Fuerteventura a tad windy also, but again nice when its very hot, carefull though if you walk alot as the wind can mask the burning.

Thats the problem, it seems quite cool until you get in the shower

We have been going to Gran Canaria for 15 years or so (2 holidays per year so go somewhere else too ) and have stayed in Playa del Ingles and Puerto Rico.

We stay self catering in aparthotels so have no experience of villas, sorry.

Like most places you can get a variety of food from burger & chips to very expensive meals, depending on your taste.
We prefer Puerto Rico (it's a bit hilly though) as a resort although you could look at Puerto Mogan which is very picturesque and is loads quieter in the evenings. There are some great restaurants here but you pay a slight premium for being on the harbour-side.
The weather should be 25 degrees or so in April, which is really pleasant.
I believe the GC1 motorway is now open all the way through to Mogan , which may make it a little bit busier in the daytime.
