On the one hand I understand what he's saying about VAT registration etc, but surely a non-VAT registered company will not be able to claim the VAT back which will kill the margins.....

Not being registered for VAT limits turnover to £79k (currently), so not much room to grow from their advertised £50k turnover before it's mandatory anyway Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support! |

With the exception of stuff like exhaust, brake pads etc. the mark-up isn't likely to average more than around 20% on a good day.
