You really are driving on borrowed time, it should have been changed at 7 year old. Shocked Expect it to go pop at anytime. Big Cry

spoke to my land rover spcialist and he said not to worry, 7 years and 105k is a guidline and if all snapped at 105000 land rover would be in some what trouble, 17 days then it will be changed so i suppose i will have to keep the mileage down Razz

I wouldn't drive it until its replaced but if I really had to i would keep it below 3000 rpm always.

The previous owner should have had it changed or the dealer you bought it from should have done it. Its not fair leaving you with a car you can't really drive. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

It doesn't matter if your thrashing it or just starting it, if its going to snap it will. I wouldn't fancy your repair bill if it does. Yes 7 years is a guideline/recommendation, is your specialist going to foot the bill if it does snap? Your vehicle is knocking on the door of 9 years without it being changed. Shocked

Personally, I would park it up, lock the door and leave it until the belts can be changed.
Very Happy

It's only when you have had a belt snap and your car sounds like a helicopter that it sinks in as to how it could have been prevented. Granted, mine was a Mondeo but I didn't need any diagniostics to know that this was bad. Metal hitting metal etc. Good luck with it though.

Was there any service history with the car and you're sure it hasn't already been changed?

Did you buy from a dealer; if you did after this short a period of ownership, should the unlikely happen and the belt fail in the next few days you'd have the 3 month default warranty cover.

Confused Obviously not full service history. Shocked
I would try and check the service record and see where it was serviced at around 7 years old and maybe give the garage a call and see if they have any record of the cambelt being changed. You could be saving yourself a few quid. Wink
