If the dealer doesn't know and he's left it at that I think I'd be questioning what sort of customer service I'd be getting from said dealer after I'd bought it

If they know the cars they are selling they should know the answer straight away. The least they could do to resemble some sort of customer service is to say they will find out within a few hours and let you know.

There's a big difference between a salesman and an order taker!

Sorry, rant over, its just that these so called salesmen that don't know their product make my blood boil these days Rolling Eyes

From my experience salesmen are picked for their selling ability rather than there knowledge or interest the product they are selling, which is quite sad.

Park heating was not standard on the HSE Lux according to the link I put up, so it will come down to:
a) was park heating specified or not
b) if it was spec'd, was it the option with remote £1,020 or without £700.

Dealer should be able to run the VIN and check what options were on it in a matter of seconds. I'd pick up the phone and get them to do it whilst you hang on the line Wink ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Spot on Beancounter!
The car is going into the dealers on the 5th Feb for the tracking to be checked, changed the wheels you see as I wasn't that keen on the Lux alloys. Anyway they are going to check to see if the car is wired a certain way to enable a fob to be used on the aux heater.Sounds like a long shot to me but worth a dart. Thanks again for all the help Bow down

Yeah Rigsby I do, I tried it this morning on the timer system that I set last night and worked great. That's why I am a little confused. I doesn't have a heated steering which I thought I would have if it had the cold pack. It was a Range Rover company vehicle from new.

Doesn't work like that, ccf configuration gives you timed climate and a few bits of kit will give you remote park heat Mike

As MSE says, your remote can be achieved by fitting a receiver and aerial plus a fob and you should be up and running. Total cost approx £200.

Lux pack should include heated steering wheel.

If you go to the topix web site and register for free you can put your chassis number in and get the build spec that relates to your car MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

I guess the dealer will confirm the costs if it is possible to make it operate off a key fob on the 5th Feb. It would be good to have as our Winter mornings can range from -10 to +10 and different everyday. Credit card at the ready! Maybe Shocked

My local dealer wouldn't supply the receiver and aerial so had to use Yeovil LR who were helpful and knew there stuff. Arrived in a couple of days. fitting is easy diy job with no tools needed Thumbs Up

Look on ebay for a new LR branded fob (£20 rather than £80) MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys
