So, having carefully considered my own safety, the potential loss of a less than 1 year old Autobiography and the potential to cause a mass rescue mission, I plunged deep into Welney Wash.

I think I did OK and the car came out happy albeit reeds all over the grille - Inspected this morning by my dealer and all OK.

Have a look and please feel free to advise on how/what i can do better next time....

2ft at entry and 2ft 6in at the far end. I panicked and stopped filming (well the person holding my phone did!!!! ) for a few minutes but most of the journey is there.

700mm is about 2.2ft which I thought was pushing it but thought " you only live once". My passenger leant out of the front near side window and said the air intake was clear all through. Assumed it would be ok!!!

Itch is scratched now so I doubt i'd put the car through that again!

Nick I did see a bloke with a Mondeo eyeing up the idea of driving through it when he saw my RRS emerge from the deep. God I wish i stayed around to see him go in. I guess he didn't as nothing was reported on BBC Look East!!

I'm impressed. The Sport will go through very deep water before you risk getting any in the engine intake. Even so, a long wade along a route that you can't be sure is free from debris and/or freshly formed holes might be considered "brave" (floods do damage roads, and roads aren't as flat as they seem from a car - the depth could change quite a bit without you initially noticing). The comment earlier in the thread about checking the route is good advice (which we will all fail to heed at some point no doubt).

I've driven through the wading trenches at LR Eastnor in my own RRS. Even with a Defender going first to show the depth it was nerve wracking. The Defender driver ended up with wet feet (not unusual of course) and the tide mark on the side of the Sport suggested the depth was somewhat more than the "2ft" we'd been told. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Surely there are other components lower down than the air intake that could kill the engine when in water? Electrical sensors? Or have they done a good job at some part of the sport?

I do a lot of river crossing on my Ktm and it doesn't half kill the wheel bearing.
