Help - restricted performance P006a / P1247 / P00bd

Going along at 70 - large jolt and following fault codes which don't clear after restart:

P006a
P1247
P00bd

200 miles from home - car won't do more than 40mph. 2010 (60 plate) 3.0 HSE. Is it okay to drive - what is the diagnosis?

I really hate this #$#$#$# car!

Those codes relate to manifold pressure, manifold air flow and turbo boost too low. Could it be something as simple as a split/blown turbo hose? You may be able to effect a repair by taping up a split hose or pushing it back on if it has popped off.
Get it somewhere safe to stop and call out roadside assistance.
Good luck. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

RAC man has just checked accessible hoses - he had to google the fault codes!! Shocked Shocked

Thinks it may be turbo actuator solenoid - or turbo failure. Now on tow truck for slow crawl home at 55mph.

Phoned first dealer near me - Lancaster Welwyn - and had to say they could not give a t@ss. Their complete indifference to the fact my 30k mile, 39 month old car had just dumped me 200 miles from home was jaw dropping. Not even a 'I'm sorry to hear that sir'.

Am waiting for a call back from Chipperfield Land Rover to see if they can be more helpful under the new ownership of Lookers. The previous owners were DIRE!

Failing that anybody know a good Indie around St Albans? Have 4 hours in tow truck to decide where I am going to dump the car.

Plus ca change. Chipperfield (the supplying dealership) didn't ring back so I called them again - they can't even look at it until next week because 'four breakdowns have already come in this morning'.

Really need a good indie!

Wow - Thanks Beancounter - RRS on the way to Hadley Green. Chloe was really helpful - chalk and cheese compared to the other two!

Hadley Green couldn't help in the end. Having told me they would be there until six and then if delayed they had a secure car drop off - it turns out they don't. Got stuck on the M1 due to an accident north of J13 so rang them for drop off instructions for the low loader to be told they don't have the ability to accept cars after 6pm. RAC flatbed had to get back to North Wales so the car is now on my drive.

So looking for anybody who can (a) recover the car to work on it; (b) have the time to look at it before next week and (c) have some understanding of how much s@@t I have endured with this car since I bought it and try and be at least willing to offer even the slightest hint of customer service. I don't expect any freebies just 'I am sorry our product has let you down so badly, especially after all the faults it has had, we will do our best to look at it as soon as possible and get it fixed.'... As opposed to a list of excuses as to how they are so busy and I am bloody lucky they will deign to even plug a diagnostic machine into next week despite the fact they sold it to me 39 months ago for over £60k... and before charging me £100+ for each hour of their precious time they spend pontificating about what has actually gone wrong with it.

I obviously expect far too much.....

What an unfortunate experience and a whole day wasted Sad .

Best thing to do is get it fixed and trade it in for something else. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

RRS is now with an extremely helpful Indy from a recommendation - ex-LR mechanic who really seems to know his stuff.

The fault had cleared when restarted and it works as long as you use very little throttle. He plugged his computer in and came out for a drive to monitor the car - the faults and restricted mode only come up intermittently - same fault codes - when lifting off after accelerating hard - i.e. HP turbo related but then interestingly the faults only log when lifting off the throttle. Anybody seen this before?

He is going to check a number of things (turbo actuator?) and got somebody to give me a lift back home. And even better gave me a great quote to renew the ARB bushes which LR refused to replace when it was serviced last September just before the warranty expired.

We will see how he gets on fixing it - but wow was he helpful compared to the franchised dealers I spoke to.

An interesting comparison.

My wife's 6 year old Mini JCW spat its dummy out and lost all turbo boost - along with an engine warning light (first fault in 4 years of ownership) Rang Specialist cars (BMW & Mini) - "I am so sorry sir we can look at it today for you"....."Our other car, the 3 year old RRS is still being fixed so we don't have a car so I'm afraid its really difficult". Specialist Cars calls back ten minutes later to say they have found a demonstrater we can borrow tomorrow and some helpful fault finding along with some advice that the Mini fault is very likely not a big issue and just drive it carefully and all will be fine....And no I don't have a warranty on the Mini and bought the car used four years ago from a different dealer. Why, oh why can't Land Rover and their dealers be this helpful????

Sad thing is my wife is now 100% convinced we should ditch the S**t Drover as she calls it and get an X5! I am struggling to find any good reason to disagree based on dealers, customer service and reliability...

Note to self: must not break any more cars this month!

Second note: great excuse to get the 40 year old V8 MGB on the road for winter. It is more reliable than the RRS and has a V8

I'll give you a good reason, the interior finish, while nice, is nowhere near that of the sport. My mate has one and I was seriously considering getting one till I sat in his, its just a big soulless barn inside.

That and the fact that they are totally useless off road, and are driven by w Censored s, I include my mate in this and have told him its a w Censored s motor. His response ? No he said, actually "its f Censored k you jack, I'm a c Censored t car" 2017 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography Santorini Black

Find yourself a decent independent specialist, one who is clued up on the newer LR models.

While you will never stop them having issues, having someone who knows how to work on them properly can make a huge difference Thumbs Up

It must be a big SUV thing because I see lots of RRS being driven by complete tossers as well. I am on (in my motoring life) my 8th BMW and their total time off the road in the shop being fixed amounts to 1 day for a power steering seal change.

I have also had RR and RRS. My 2 RR (P38) had HVAC and aircon issues but were both fixed on time and budget by good LR dealers, including one in the USA when I lived there. My 1st RRS was trouble, my 2nd RRS was completely trouble free.

No, my X6 won't go off road, but your RRS will not go round a corner as flat and as quickly as my X6. In the UK, you have lots of mud and slippery roads so a big "proper" 4x4 is useful. Here, we haven't seen any rain in nearly 3 months and we don't have the mud that you do. i don't drive off road, or in sand, or in mud, I live close to the city.

My number plate is YC. I tell everyone it means yacht club. Use your imagination Rolling with laughter Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

How many RRS go off road though? Like the X5, most are polished every weekend and have big shiny wheels with summer tarmac tyres. Most owners are scared of kerbs let alone mud and rocks and stuff. Rolling Eyes 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
