When your wife goes out, steal her hair dryer and heat the plate up starting at one corner and gently pull the plate away from the tailgate as it melts the glue and keep heating the rest of the plate as it comes away. Some use fishing wire or cotton and feed that behind the plate at the same time as heating the plate up and just the wire like a saw to cut through the sticky pad. Or if you have a heat gun use that but DON'T melt your plate Big Cry

Talk nicely to your neighbour and ask them if they have one you can borrow. Wink

Grab one corner and yank (plate not the Mrs), pliers if needed - the tape will give, the plate may not survive, getting the old tape off is a Censored

Agree with the hairdryer - it's a good start.

Also worth applying some type of glue remover to soften up the tape that's holding it on. Look on eBay for Autosmart Tardis.

The final thing you need is some fishing line. Once you've heated the plate and applied the glue remover, then gentle 'saw' with the fishing line to separate the plate from the car. Then use the remaining glue remover to take off any sticky stuff left on the car Smile

I'd avoid, just taking it off personally as the plate could shatter and damage the car. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Friend of mine has a bodyshop and the only way they have found to get the tape off is with some polishing wheel - decent plate tape is a Censored , I have never found anything to dissolve the adhesive.

We used plastic spatular then a flapper wheel. Wurst make a product that removes glue/residue of tape without effort. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

@ MAW - I soak some kitchen towel/tissue in AS Tardis and then press it onto the glue/residue. Leave it for 15 mins and it makes it a doddle to remove. You just need to make sure it's got enough contact time Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Laughing BKHK......but screws and holes is sooooo last year.
I do prefer the clean look of stuck on plates. I've been looking into getting some super strong Velcro and will try that when I finally get around to sticking my personal plate on my BM. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
