Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

I know Bean but our plates are pressed aluminium so not flat like yours and are made by those who only see striped sunshine and sleep on bunk beds. They won't stick easily.

When we get a private plate, the actual plate comes from one car after another. Depending on the make, the holes may or may not line up.

I had to drill my own holes in my private plate for the X5 but the BMW stealer swapped them onto the X6, easy for him, the holes were in the same place. Laughing We can have more or less what we want on a plate, just go on the web, design the plate and hand over your credit card details. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Could you theoretically stick a new plate over the old one?

I only ask as I've private plates coming Wink

Also, what is the correct size for the rear plate - differs from site to site.

Mine seems large at 630mm x 175mm

Sticking a plate over the top of another plate will look very poor IMHO.
Sort of thing you expect a back street car dealer to do Wink

It's a nice motor and you've invested in a private plate too, don't cheapen it by failing to invest a few minutes sorting out the plates correctly Whistle ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Yes, very true...

Just envisaging a hard struggle to remove the old one.

Can I ask what size yours is? Mine seems larger than any site offer.

Mine was (I sold my RRS 3 months ago Big Cry ) the larger shape.
There's a thread about the sizes on here.

Regarding removing it, if it's stuck on, a few tips.
Get some fishing line/dental floss and 'saw' the plate off so you are left with the sticky stuff on the paint behind the plate. Then soak the sticky residue with a glue remover (Autosmart Tardis is the best for this, but petrol or WD40 will work too Wink ) Once soaked, the residue should come off fairly easily Thumbs Up
Don't just pull the plate off as you could end up snapping it and damaging the car. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I had a similar problem- when I eventually got it off there was not one but two previous private plates underneath!!! Shocking!

Simon,
Here's a post my number plate geek Whistle James now at HGG Land Rover (Formerly Lookers Park Royal) Thumbs Up
Hope that helps you with the sizing Smile

James who is now at HGG wrote:
Oversized rectangle rear plate is the way to go....... Std size is too small IMHO, but are cheaper to produce hence why some dealers will supply them from new.

LRUK registered/run vehicles are always fitted with the oversized versions on the rear.

530mm x 150mm for the authentic OEM look! Wink

If you look further into number plates then there are two different types of finish too. The original and best looking (again IMHO) are printed with a clear plastic front, effectively laminating the plate. There are cheaper methods where the characters are printed directly onto a think plate with no plastic cover. To the reg plate insane like myself you can see a slight texture to them. Shocked

James Thumbs Up

OK, just checked and sized mine up - the new ones are superb and I'm very pleased.

My rear plate size is 635mm x 175mm and looks great.

It's actually described as the Rover 75 size rear plate on most websites...
