United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Bonatti Grey

The wheel droning is an irritant but it should not take anything away from the fact that this is a great vehicle so here is a picture after arriving in Austria after 800 miles of fast motoring.

Interesting to hear what LR have to say about the droning. Im baffled that after i don't know how many thousand miles of testing that this has not come up before.

I would spec 21" wheels. They are almost as nice looking. Probably don't have the droning noise and it is easier to get tyres for them as well. The 22" are form over function.

22" on an L405 not a problem , makes me wonder if it's the type of 22" Rim and air flow in the rim spokes ? 2014 5.0SC AB

2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Zermatt Silver

900 miles driven over Xmas in the 2014 AB SDV6 , on 22" wheels. Motorways and A roads mainly (at a variety of speeds...ho hum) with none of this droning to comment about. The ride is far superior than a prior 58 plate RRS tdv8 on 20" wheels, and the tyre noise far less. Absolutely no issue from my side! And if there was, I'd have a moan about it!
Only gripe is the fuel consumption at 29.9mpg which is less than anticipated. that may be the penalty of the 22" set up. I was expecting over a 900 mile journey a bit more!

Yes please.

I would like to know if it is certain wheels and specs of cars that are or are not making the sound.

Peanutbob (no hum) and Hornbaek (hum) have the same wheels. Doldy has different wheels (hum). Hornbaek has had too different sets of tyres (winter and original summer) and has had the hum on both. Doldy is a HSE, Hornbaek S/C AB so that's not it either.

Yes that's about how I see it as well.

This seems well random at the moment.

Only the front wheels, two kinds of wheels, two kinds of tyre, two engines, two specs of car.

Wheels well that idea is DOA

Question from all with the Hum

is this when you just go back on the loud peddle very gently or is it non stop ? or sitting at about 1500 RPM by any chance , not talking about the known heat shield recall by the way 2014 5.0SC AB

Engine revs make nö difference. The hum is related to the front tyres when they turn at a certain speed - but not above 90 mph.

And Hornbaek gets it on winter tyres in addition to the original summer ones.
