Coming to work in the morning and suddenly the car displays ' engine system fault' and the car crawls into limp mode. I pull over then re-start and its fine for the rest of the journey.
I took it into Independent, he plugged his machine in and he said it was the turbo actuator. So he has told me to bring it in on Friday and he will get underneath and try and soak it with degreasant of some sort. Otherwise it will need a new turbo

Does anybody have any advice on how to free up the actuators without dropping the chassis and buying new turbo.. seems a little extreme to go to this expense for this problem. RANGE ROVER SPORT L494

Possibly common if vehicles are not being used as much as they should?

See it a lot, more so on the TDV8. All it needs is some penetrating oil, sprayed up onto the bottom link bolt, and worked up and down to free off. May take a few goes, but never failed to free one off as yet

Took it to the Indy at Aberdeen and they said the actuators were not that bad at all. They charged me 130 pounds to lubricate the rods.
Going home today and I have had to call rac out as the car is going into limo mode every 6-8 miles on motorway.
Also it says special programs off. Also the cruise control stopped working sometimes when I stopped then a started.

Same problem as me.
Ive changed fuel filter and fuel rail still the same.
I hade codes read p2290, p120f

They seem to think its fuel pressure pump. Like anything with these bloody cars its ££££ YES £1400.

Will be selling it and Never buying another 1. Was looking at a 12 plate but not now.

I am getting a similar problem with my Supercharged. Hoped it was the Brake Light Switch but that has been changed. My fault happens only when going up long steep hills. Only ever happens on the same road south of Inverness. I can usually pull over, switch off for 30 seconds and then restart and all is good. Haven't had the codes read yet. 2006 Supercharged

No. If/When I have a TDV8 to look at next, I will take some photos

It turned out to be a split hose in the end. I kept going into limp mode on the way home from manchester from aberdeen, so i called the RAC out. He looked at the codes then made a call, then shown me the split. As simple as that.

So much for the Indy specialist who diagnosed Actuator rods and charged me £130. RAC man was a star!!!

Good news, I like the cheaper fixes.

I have a RRS 06 tdv6 and im getting an esf message thats indicating absolute pressure failure (I think the codes p0106) problem is the car is fine and is driving the same as before the message came up! Ive had the map sensor checked,egr valves are fine and also had the turbo looked at cleaned and all seems fine? Anyone else had this before? Even the main stealer cant find out what the cause is! There only solution was to replace the turbo!!!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard this turbo actuator is a common problem, however mine had the same symptoms and it turned out to just be that the turbo hose had split.
