Hi everyone, I've just joined this site as I am wondering if the problems I have got on my RRS are common or I am just so unlucky. I bought my first RRS 56 reg 8 weeks ago to tow my caravan. Since then I've replaced the front lower arms and rear anti roll bar joints but still a loud knocking coming from the front end when going over bumps. Then the parking sensors started to play up so I replaced one of those looks like the harness is going to have to be done too.
Then the battery light came on and had to replace the alternator , two days after that air suspension light comes on so I'm guan have to change the compressor now.

Thank you, now I can guestimate the MY.. I've got a 2006 S/C, with all the TSB stuff solved, so no problems with the suspension and all that (so far). So that is why I asked if it came with the 'works'.

It's a 2006 , zermatt silver, 2,7 tdv6, with 64,000 miles on it. Not use to the abbreviations on here yet, what's TBV and the works mean? HALLY

nothing to do with the age really, its more about miles and service work already done

front and rear arms are both service items maybe 40-60k miles so good for a while now you have done them
could be the anti roll bar that's knocking... something like that someone will be along soon to confirm

alternator another common along with a battery...... may be worth making sure yours is ok as it could give other false issues, not sure if it could cause the suspension warning but you never know and a battery test is cheaper
try raising from access to offroad height back down and back up again, engine running you should get to about third raise before "raisng slowly" warning.

you have still got egr's to look forward too although you can blank on a 2006 if need be. but not a 2007.

2007 models can have iffy oil pump housings that are worth changing with the 105k/7 year belt change....

whats your miles as they should have been done by now best not mention that cost if not done already

oh and don't forgot, wheel bearings and brake discs

but .... they are great cars that tow like a dream, comfy, look good, nice place to be, safe and practical ....

and

I am still wanting one so if you want to get rid of yours cheap let me know as you have done a few of the jobs already

I really feel your pain- that's a hell of a run of bad luck. However- that's most of the common faults out of the way so once they're fixed it should be fine for a good while.
Good luck with whatever you decide- but as has already been said- when they're good, they're ace.

I would not consider lower arms and rear ARB bushes bad luck.
just consider them as an oil change to be done.

and at the end these are not expensive anyway.

By the way, I changed my front lower arms and I thought I still had worn front ARB bushes as it did sound like that.
After I changed my rear ARB bushes as they are very easy to change out it also appreared that the noice coming from the front was gone.
after the rear ARB bush replacement, my car is like new and gives a completely different ride.

so my advice, change these rear bushes out first and see what happens

Welcome aboard Hally - as others have said looks like you've nicely got the 'consumables' out of the way early !

I'd definitely get the ARB bushes done too. LR produced a modified bracket a while ago, I assume the subject of a TSB, and that seems to stop the RRS eating them for lunch. The alternator has the habit of toasting the battery too when it's on its way out, so that will be worth checking.

Hopefully that lot will sort the car out for a while so you can just enjoy driving it.  FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy
