England 2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Zermatt Silver

Welcome Hally!

I'm due to collect mine this weekend, so have my fingers crossed - but hopefully will be ok!

Baptism of fire next thursday with a nice 177 mile trip up the M6 - so if I'm quiet on Friday you'll know all was ok!!

I've also booked mine in with Land Rover for a pre-warrenty check early January - had a good quote from them and the Warrenty Direct man is calling back shortly.

Have you considered getting a warrenty?

Simon

Gibraltar 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Stornoway Grey

I bought a really low mileage 2008 SE last year, for £25k and was really happy with my purchase. After having driven a few thousand trouble free KM in Morocco, Portugal and Spain with the car, one day whilst traveling in Spain the turbo went, just like that, I was going up a hill at the time. By the time I managed to get it off the motorway and realised what was going on I could hear a heavy clunking sound like a big end had gone plus lots of smoke. Long and short of it was, pay €11k for new block and turbo (repaired at an Official LR dealer in Spain) or loose £25k on the car. Fully comp didn't cover the engine.
I was really Censored off at first but both my wife and I really like the car, the way it drives and feels. Not really much choice really although I must say that I've driven many cars over the years but never quite found one as comfy as the RRS. As the wife says at least it now has a two year warranty on the motor. Not sure if I would ever invest £60k+ in a new one though.

Regards
GibRRS

Welcome Hally,

Had mine since February this year, been in and out of the garage for usual things for an 07 4.2 SC, I've been lucky to have a local independant that's not costly and really honest.
It helps.
As said before, age, previous care, warranty, all things to be factored in when buying, however, wouldn't have spent my money on another vehicle and still have enjoyed owning and driving it as much.
Thumbs Up

2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Bought my TDV8 in July and so far it has had; new air compressor, new front strut, wishbone bushes both sides on the front, full set new rear brakes and lots of other TLC. The warranty wise policy covered absolutely nothing so seriously consider your options if buying aftermarket, wish I had taken a LR one out!

Thing is all these things have a tendency to go at the 5 year 60k mark, way I look at it is I now know all is good and ready for the next few years so have explained to my wallet that it is a positive outcome! The real issue is that underneath it is still a £60k car and if that goes wrong it will cost to repair.

Having splashed out on my Overfinch 22s last month all I can say is that despite the running costs I love the beast to bits, drove home from Heathrow to Southampton last night with a stinking sore throat, sitting back in those big comfy seats and eating the motorway miles home put a massive smile on my face and that is what it is all about. Chin up, it is nearly Christmas Smile

Hi Hally, just for a comparison and some hope!!! I bought my TDV8 with around 48000 miles on it and took out a Warranty to cover any unexpected issues. I kept it for about 18 months in which time I did 30000 miles and other than tyres and brake pads and front discs I had nothing break, and had no warranty claims at all. In fact the only time it ever let me down was the day before I traded it in, battery went flat but an overnight charge and all was good again. I know I was lucky but you can have good times as well as bad with these motors and when they are good there's nothing like it. Hope you get to the point where you can enjoy it a bit more. Good luck Rigsby MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

Arf, all the consumables out the way Very Happy

Within 10 days of getting ours last April, compressor unit for suspension had gone, this year egr needed replaced (57 plate tdv6) and last month alternator/battery needed done, happened with zero notice and left missus stranded Rolling Eyes

When it's fixed though its a great car, you seem to have fixed a lot in 8 weeks - enjoy it now it irks and don't let someone else enjoy the fruits of your labour - for a while yet anyway

Blimey Hally that's not good, I've just had serious issues with a V8 engine on my D2, sold it at a massive loss, with engine faulty. On the upside I'm buying my first RRS this week.
So if there is a good luck god, may she give me a break.. Laughing
Stick it out to reap the benefits soon to come mate. Wink
