Can you provide more information? I've never heard of that service. I've been to a few upholstery shops, but they won't touch it because it's over the airbag.

Pretty frustrating for a $75,000 vehicle.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be looking for someone who does this tomorrow. I've tried my own vinyl repair, but it's not that easy to NOT make it looks likes it's been repaired. '12 RRS SC

After some heated back and forth emails with Land Rover Middle East they have agreed to repace the cracked dash with a 50% discount on parts and labour.
This is considerd to be a 'Good Will' Gesture on their behalf although I consider it to be a cop-out since this type of thing should never happen on a $70,000 luxury car.
The problem I have is that my car has just slipped out of warranty so I don't really have a leg to stand on.

Land Rover are still obviously targeting the one time buyer in our regeon since this type of thing would never cement the relationship of customers coming back for a second time.
Go buy a Merc, BMW or Lexus if you want aftersales service that cares for the buyer. Evil or Very Mad Ra-Ro Sport Super Dooper Charged.

Streaky, I just joined the forum to ask you if that only applies to Range Rovers or if they are extending that deal to all...I live in Abu Dhabi and own a LR3 with the same issue.

Hi Jaf.

Are you on the Facebook UAE Land Rover Owners group by any chance?

On the 20th April LRMENA gave us an open forum to discuss groans and gripes so I asked them more about this issue of cracked dash boards on LR3's and RRS. They promised to get back to me directly with a statement but as I expected the silence is deafening.
As far as I know they will not address the cracks on any vehicle outside of warranty. The offer they made was one of goodwill. I'm very angry at their recent lack of response since these gaping cracks have reduced the resale of my RRS by a substantial amount.

Drop me a PM please and I'll have you added to the Facebook group. We made a poll of all people with cracked dash boards to gather some ammunition against LRMENA here. It might come to nothing but unless we try we won't know. Ra-Ro Sport Super Dooper Charged.

The Brits never get to see the sun that is why they don't have the issue.

In Oz there are quite a few occurrences. I have a dash mat on my dash but my dash - the very front section that runs near the windscreen and is not covered by the mat has cracked.

Sorry to say it but the Brits and the Italians have never made cars that can survive very well in high UV environments.

Exactly my point Garry. You'd never see a 5 year old Lexus or Merc with huge unsightly cracks in the dash board would you!
LR told me they'd done extensive tests on the materials used to ensure best quality etc etc blah blah....I know quite a bit about accelerated UV testing done in the Middle East for printed matter and was able to trip them up quite easily on their statements.

I doubt if they'll increase their offer to fix them all. I don't want to put any carpets on my dash because of teh airbags etc. Ra-Ro Sport Super Dooper Charged.

My Dash Mat is airbag compatible - the section where the airbag is lifts up when the airbag deploys.

Hi streaky, just saw your posts about dash crack. I have rrs 2006 (out of warranty Embarassed ), live in Dubai and since yesterday the dash has cracked just above steering wheel. Before it was only on passenger airbag side. Would be interested in joining UAE land rover on Facebook to follow up any developments but it's closed group...
Cheers Philip

Philip.
If you are on Facebook then PM me your full name and I'll pass it on to Admin. From what I've seen in the past few months LRMENA are not going to do anything about the dashboards that cracked outside of warranty though.
They made a token gesture to me and one other lady in the group to replace at 50% but they said it will still crack again after approx 4-5 years since the materials used are the same. Ra-Ro Sport Super Dooper Charged.

I had the part between the dash and screen start to flake and peel, LR replaced the entire dash but car was only 4 months old. Never heard of anyone else having the problem though 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Hi streaky,
That would be great thanks if you could pass onto admin - philip Bencini.
What kind of price is a new dash? Assuming you had it done at al tayer... As you say it's knocked a bit of my resell price considering the car is otherwise in perfect condition.

Hi Philip.

A new dash fitted by Al Tayer will set you back somewhere in the region of 8000Dhs. AAA in Rashidiya have done them also but I'n not sure what the cost of the parts are in comparison to the labor.

I will inform Admin that you want to join the FB group.

Thx.
