Engine oil level not available

I've tried to check on oil level via the menu, but it keeps showing 'engine oil level not available'. Now, I know you have to wait 10 mins for the oil level to stabilise, which I've done a few times now....and also park on level ground! But the message still is the same. Previous D4 showed the oil level no problem, even at cold.
Also, still can't discover whether on the Autobiography, the menu should show timed climate and rest heat, as remote climate is an extra on the specs! But, on my Ab these functions are absent.
I've called the dealer service dept (Hunters Chester..are you listening?) twice today, who haven't called back...but buying at £77k car seems to mean very little ref after sales! I'd rather forgo the bottle of champagne they gave me on collection and have someone call back!

Idea Bob, i don't know if this will work on the RRS2 but it does on the original Laughing RRS. Try lifting the bonnet, then see if the oil level check is available. Hope this helps. Thumbs Up

No, I've decided to put a long straw in the filler cap instead...that should do the trick! Give or take a few litres here and there!

On mine the ignition has to be switched on, but the engine has to be stopped. It doesn't work with engine running. Its worth a try. 2017 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography Santorini Black

Thanks...I've done all that..engine warm...turned off ignition, waited 10 mins...but it doesn't work!
There was a thread from the states on range rovers.net ref this problem, which I came across a few weeks ago, but I can't find it again!

Checked the level at stone cold this morning, and it worked! Went out for a 10 minute drive, parked up and returned to vehicle 45 mins later and it came up with engine oil level not available. Car was in park mode.

So, looks like it needs a lot more than 10 mins for the gauge to work.
