Interior Light

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to fit an additional interior courtesy light unit to the central roof moulding above the front seat backs...simply by fitting a light unit (something suitable from an other vehicle) and taking a feed from the switched power supply in the front courtesy light unit over the roof liner?....will it send the vehicle Canbus loopy and go into meltdown throwing errors everywhere?

I also don't understand why the sport hasn't got lights in the rear (apart from the ones you can manually switch on)

Sorry to high jack.

I've got LEDs in the front which is better but when strapping kids in seats more light in the back would be better!

Couldn't the manual lights be converted so when you unlock they come on too??

I remember somewhere on the forum a few members had wired the rear lights from the puddle lights on the rear doors effectively illuminating all interior lights together. If your handy with a soldering iron and got a afternoon free maybe have a crack at that

Thanks all for input so far, I have looked at length at the thread concerning illuminating the rear 'map' lights it looks a bit involved, just seemed a more straight forward mod to sink a light assembly in the middle fit some LED lamps and take the feed from the switched live at the front...was mostly concerned about the seemingly sensitive nature of the vehicle electronics...I think a decent centre mounted light would be the best solution...but that's just my opinion Smile

I agree that is an option then the feeds are straight through head liner.

The light would be coming from a better direction too.

It maybe I'd do both, it will be like Blackpool lights inside!!
