Problem with air suspension not falling out of extended mode

I've recently had a new air compressor changed, the latest modified (and twice the price) version.

Since then when I raise the suspension into extended mode (OK) then press the button to reduce it to 'normal' mode, it says that it will lower once obstruction is removed, but there aren't any ! Then I start to drive and at 30mph it either tells me to lower the suspension or I can do it manually, with no problems. So, it lowers OK once driving but not at standstill.

Another question, for those with the modified compressor - is it louder than the old version ? Mine is, and lets out a fair amount of air when engine turned off. Dealer says both these are normal.  RR Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange 4.2 V8 First edition

Prefer RR Vouge S/C but they don't do Orange !

Is it the AMK compressor, if so mine does the same - doesn't always lower first time & gives the same message and I think it is noisier than the previous one but it seems to work well - only time will tell if the AMK is better Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

not sure of make, it came via LR main dealer. Even though it may be better long term, it shouldn't be making louder noises or giving this error ?  RR Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange 4.2 V8 First edition

It does sound a bit odd! I hope someone comes along to advise you if the dealer is mugging you off or not! MY2007 RRS TDV8 Black - tinted glass - side steps- stormer grille - 20" diamond cut alloys - alpaca leather - TV/DVD pack - some blingy chrome bits & bob's

Something not right there. When the suspension is operating normally you can only select three heights: access height, on-road height or off-road height.

Extended mode can only be invoked by your car itself if it detects that it has grounded on an obstruction. When the car is in extended mode you can apparently the select additional lift by pressing the 'up' button with your foot on the brake (never tried it).

I have the AMK compressor fitted which is now the standard Land Rover fit. There is a software update to go with the new compressor, which has been installed on my car and I've had no problems. It doesn't sound louder than the old one in my opinion (it's a bit subjective) and it does let off the characteristic 'fart' although this does seem a bit random; if it does fart it is usually after I've taken about three paces away from the car!

Sounds as if you may have a sensor problem. Loud compressor could be that it is badly fitted so it is a bit loose or you have a leak and it is running all the time trying to maintain pressure. The fixings are known to corrode badly and one is a bit fiddly to fit. Has been known for sloppy garages to not replace all the fixings because they haven't got them in stock or leave off the fiddly one. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I think I may have used extended mode instead of off-road mode, but i'll check what the dash states first  RR Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange 4.2 V8 First edition

The AMK compressor is slightly louder than the old one but the difference shouldn't be too much. www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic31004.html

Just spotted this in the manual which could be important for the OP:

SYMPTOM
System detects extended mode unnecessarily when lowering

POSSIBLE CAUSES
Crossed gallery and air spring pipes
Incorrect valve block installed to front or rear
Damage or blockage in air harness

Sounds as if your installer could have Censored up. So you might need to have a diplomatic word.[/u] 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
