Petrol in diesel car!!

I have a rrs 2.7 v6 diesel. I had put £30 in and the next went to tank up only to put petrol in the tank. Only put in 13 litres so to counteract i filled car up with diesel with a further 50 litres of diesel. Have driven 150 miles since with no problems, however the car is no starting to chug?! Any advice please guys?

More diesel in the tank im thinking, to lower the petrol and diesel ratio

most other forums discussing this problem suggest its safer to drain out the contaminated fuel. If the car was an old Mondeo it would probably be OK, but todays modern engine has more things that the petrol can cause to go wrong  RR Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange 4.2 V8 First edition

Prefer RR Vouge S/C but they don't do Orange !

A little late now so just top up with diesel at every moment.

Would be worth putting in fuel system cleaner also.

13 litres of petrol in an 80 litre tank isn't the end of the world, but for piece of mind, keep topping up with fresh diesel as often as possible to help dilute the petrol as much as possible.

A good injector cleaner, or even better, a dose of 2 stroke oil will also help keep things lubricated until the petrol is all gone Thumbs Up

The petrol will be acting as an injector cleaner already. It's the solvent nature of petrol which diesels don't like as it cleans the diesel off the surfaces in the high pressure fuel pump and injectors causing wear. That's what screws modern diesels when petrol is run through them as I understand it.

I think 13L/85L petrol/diesel isn't the end of the world. I'd run it down to half a tank, top up and then run it down to 1/4 tank before filling again. Get it through the system as soon as possible. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for the wonderful advice guys, car is now running as smooth as ever, have gone for the topping up of diesel at regular intervals option. Fortunately the chugging didn't last longer than a few minutes, and has not returned. Will also add some fuel system cleaner as a precaution.

Thanks again! Range Rover Sport HSR

As has already been suggested the petrol should have cleaned the injectors but if you want to run some cleaner through anyway (not a bad thing once in a while) then Millers 'Diesel Power EcoMax' seems to be the cleaner of choice.

If you are still running with some petrol in the tank then it might be a good idea to fill up with Shell 'V Power Nitro+ Diesel' which is thought to provide superior lubrication and definitely seems to boost the mpg. If adding 2-stroke oil to compensate for the petrol's lack of lubricating properties then use Castrol Actevo Scooter oil and add about 500 mls to a tankful.
