Thanks for the reply paddi, was wondering about how much oil as one data book said 9.5 litres but owners man says 5.85 which is what the v6 takes. Thinking I've got the wrong man or there's a supliment somewhere I've not yet found..

Yes I noticed that error in the manual too. In practice, after a thorough drain you will get a little over 9.5 litres in. Wonder how many TDV8s have been damaged by following the manual and underfilling? You'll find the same problem if you ever want to do a coolant change - the owners manual says 12 litres for a refill and the workshop manual 13.7 litres. If you are doing the oil change yourself you'll need to order two LR sump plugs which are only about £2 each IIRC as they are not reusable. In case you haven't already seen it there are a few useful titbits of information in this thread: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic27697....il+change. Hope it all goes well 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE |
