The TDV8 makes the RRS a useable daily driver with safe overtaking etc. It also makes light of towing too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

it would stand out that your in a tdv8. You know like when you have a hst people know its something different to the standard sport.

If the M3 drove like an M3 even though it looked like a 318, would it be a problem?

I suppose it's the same process that keeps the fashion business going...and I don't understand the whole "I must have the latest clothing item even though the one I bought a few months ago is still perfectly useable".

Don't take this the wrong way but its seems your strange.

Of course it would, if i buy an m3 I want to look different to a car half its value. When a new facelift model comes out people but it because its different to the last model.

Same goes for any material product, clothes, tv's etc etc.

The thing with forums is whichever model the person has, they will have a reason for buying that model over the other one, it could be cost, bhp, I want to have the best one to keep up with the jones etc.

I wouldn't just go for the v8 if the v6 will do the job, I've read when the v6 is mapped its loads better. Plus gets a few more mpg over the v8 but don't make out that's an issue or you will be struck down, saying if mpg's an issue a rrs isn't for you!!

The remapped TDV6 is better than the TDV6, the TDV8 is better than the TDV6, the remapped TDV8 is better than the remapped TDV6.

The TDV6 is a fine vehicle, no mistake, but I figured I'd miss the easy torque of the TDV8 if I just went with the TDV6. That and the sound of the TDV8.

The pros of the TDV6 are slightly better mpg.
The pros of the TDV8 are better performance, better noise.

The cons of both are that neither is great with fuel, both get heavily taxed by the Government and both wear through suspension components as if they were made of a cheese / chocolate alloy.

If you want a cheap-to-run vehicle you don't buy a RRS, irrespective of whether you go for the slightly less thirsty TDV6 or the slightly thirstier TDV8.

Well, I removed all the badges from my TDV8, I do not have the need to stand out.

I converted my diesel RRS to run on an environmentally friendly mixture of caribou fat and baby seals oil

These mpgs might be out but its what Parkers have suggested but an example anyway.

RRS 2.7 28 mpg 12,000 miles @ £139.9 = £2726.65
RRS 3.6 25 mpg 12,000 miles @ £139.9 = £3052.72

So not much difference.

2005 2.7 RRS gets cheaper tax £280
2006 on 2.7 RRS pays higher tax £490 iirc
3.6 RRS are all high tax £490

Insurance for me is only £50 different for the year

So a 2007 3.6 travelling 12,000 miles per year is £586 more expensive.

More expensive in fuel and insurance yes. But don't believe those fuel comsumption figures Then factor in service costs which are also more expensive for the 3.6. I had the 2.7 but had it remapped by Pete at Bell auto's, site sponsor and it worked fine for me, a great improvement over the sluggish 2.7 standard power output, having said that, if i was going to use it for a towing vehicle, then i would of got the TDV8. Now i have the SDV6 this model is more than capable for doing everything which is a great compromise between the the V8 diesel and the V8 Supercharged.

Standard map A to B local run to work 18 mile round trip in winter 19 mpg
Summer 22 mpg
On a run (motorway) 26mpg

Remapped A to B local run to work 18 mile round trip in winter 21mpg
Summer best i got was 24mpg
On a run 28mpg
All onboard computer figures running 22" wheels in summer and 19" wheels in winter. My speedo was more accurate on the 22" wheels.

Anyone got same info for the 3.6?
