I agree rrstdv8 and have used it on lr experience days and on the lro show course when I had my D2 but the op was do we need really need it and is it worth paying extra - my answer is I can manage with m&r so probably wouldn't pay for it - I also wouldn't pay for alloys Laughing Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Cairns Blue

I have used low range once in 10 years of driving Range Rovers and that was to pull a mini digger out of a bog Rolling with laughter
Like Paul, spent lots of time in muddy fields and found that I can pull campers, vans with trailers and even a ride on mower without having to use low range. Even hills in Cornwall with 1.5 tonnes of caravan on back from standstill were never an issue with V8 power and torque. So no I wouldn't pay for it as an option as don't use it as standard. I do use low range in my L200 regularly but it goes onto greenfield building sites pulling plant trailer and has proper off road tyres but only 153 bhp with nothing below 2300 rpm. Horses for courses Whistle Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Think of it like this...how embarrassed would you be (including associated YouTube videos and rrs forum mocking) when your car is stuck in a field or unable to pull a x somewhere just because you didnt have low range fitted on what should be the most capable 4x4 made.

Considering everything seems to be an option on the new sport, this seems one of those essential options...not that i would buy a second hand one, but if i was going to I wouldnt buy one without low range. Mike

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Agreed mse, for £410 it seems like a no brainer to me... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Good point on second hand market so presumably affect on depreciation Thumbs Up

Bearing that in mind I would spec it new even though never going to use it if it was only few £100 but with figures of £1000's being banded about on the forum between new and old spec equivalent I am getting confused Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Can you spec low range on the lower spec models or is it only on HSE spec? Now driving a rather smart looking Van

You can't spec low range on the SE. It's an option on HSE and standard on the HSE Dynamic and AB Dynamic versions. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
