Mercedes SLK 55 AMG

Just bought myself a 2006 SLK 55 AMG and its a great car to compliment the RRS.
Has anyone else owned one that can give me some advice on things to look out for as I want to keep it in A1 condition.

It will only be used on sunny days as a toy!

No experience of the SLK55 but i had a E55 kompressor a few years ago. That car was absolutely mental Mr. Green and the only advice i will give you is LEAVE THE TRACTION CONTROL BUTTON ON!! Shocked

Hi Marsie,
Great choice mate ,beautiful cars , you will love it ... the longer you own it the less chance you have of ever selling it ....
I have an2004 SL55 AMG in my garage ( 25 k miles and looks and drives like new !) and my experience is that the MB engines ( SL & SLK 55 are similar but not the same output ) are bullet proof , but if you are storing and using only occasionaly , make sure that you have the battery / batteries ( mine has 2 ) on a trickle charger, such as a CTek to keep it in optimum condition. Get a Ctek with a conditioning charge cycle...... ( batteries are expensive )
Also, as it will be garaged most of the time , i recommend a good clean / clay bar & Zymol wax treatment . It will always look the dogs when you take it out ...and always easy to wash afterwards..

I had a small problem with an air compressor cost about 300 quid, replaced the Turbine type wheels due to sliught corrision, fitted SL 63 version wheels, but generally the cars do not have many faults...it is a Mercedes after all !

Thanks for the advice. It is stupendously fast and will be used as a toy and will be garaged most of the time. Good advice about the clay bar etc and yes, I will be keeping an eye on those tyres. Thumbs Up
