Bikes

Morning,

So how does every cart their mountain bikes or road bikes about?
At the moment I'm just putting the seats flat and putting it in the back which is abit of a pain so I was thinking boot rack or roof rack.

But what does everyone else do and what are good options?

Thanks

Re: Bikes

When I had my sport I used a tow bar mounted 3 bike carrier, best way in my opinion.
Roof mount too high and who wants to put dirty bikes in the back of the car.

The man in Lycra will be along very soon to advise you on his experiences with everything to do with carrying bikes with your sport, to the best lycra shop in England. Laughing He won't need any introducing, but i'm sure he will be along very soon after his mum has sorted his breakfast and packed lunch out for him. Thumbs Up

The starting point for me is a removable tow bar and electrics. If you want to tow a trailer or tin tent with the bikes on then a maxx rack seems the most popular. I have one for the mountain bikes but for more than 3 it's like 3 dimensional chess and a bit of a fiddle. For my road bikes I would never use the maxx rack, I use a Thule model that is able to tilt away to allow the back to open and is fantastic for road bikes (narrower handlebars and carbon frames)

Strange how so bike loving owners are on here. I thought from the abuse I get, that Range Rover drivers are "gas gobbling ****ers (rhymes with banker) who deliberately pollute the air and use their cars as mobile road block" Rolling with laughter that was the tirade I got in this mornings commute. Some of it was possibly true Whistle 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈

Thanks for the introduction Ady Laughing

As DaveM says, removable tow bar and a bike rack (would recommend Thule too).
There's a couple of threads on here with pics, but in short, it's the best/safest way to carry your bikes IMO. Thumbs Up

I got my bike rack from TescoDirect, just shy of £300 for a 3 bike rack with tilt.

I'd certainly favour a tow bar mounted rack over a roof system. Wink ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey

I bought a Mercedes Vito 110cdi for bike duties, cost me £1080, which also does as a run around so keeps the miles off the RRS. Feels weird throwing my mountain bike in worth 2-3 times as much Laughing

Was used as a private ambulance by a funeral directors for moving bodies from the hospital to the undertakers, so only had light loads, got low mileage, and never been hammered Cool Current: 06 RR Sport HSE TDV6, Bonatti grey, black leather. Defender 90 pick up. Vito 110cdi
