fuel flap problem, just can't find solution here :-(

Hi everyone !
I think the problem started after a high pressure jet wash...
When I press in the flap to release it, it just stays in. So I have to get my credit card in the gap to wedge it out. I have been doing a search for the past hour or so on the problem, and it seems that people are trying to open the flap when it's locked. However mine is unlocked.
Has anyone any experience of this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

Try the manual release from inside the boot, see if that affects / corrects behaviour (door in boot sidewall, tab, pull to release)

Probably a broken part inside the latch (or a faulty actuator). Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

ok so i did some digging. i have tried the manual release and this didnt solve the problem. The manual release is simply releasing the locking pin, but this is already being done when i am unlocking the car via the key fob.
I think martin you could be on to something therefore. I took a piccie of the latch, maybe someone can see if it looks ok for me please?

should these plastic pieces that are sticking out, be stocking out further? I'm thinking that maybe they are depressed through the force of the high pressure sprayer?

i had this before mate it was thouse little plastic bits that stick out that wernt moving right . i believe there cheep and easy to replace. but i just played around with mine for and bit and got them to sit right and had no problems since
just give em a wiggle about and you might find its ok.

and yes i felt a right tool at the garage pulling up then having to drive off cause couldnt get the flap open at the time only the dead truely know peace,

Also check that the clip and the rubber boot are present on the flap itself Smile Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support!

Thanks Chilly. I've been messing around this morning with the problem. Ive been pushing in the three plastic bits to see if this releases something, but nothing. I've been pushing the middle plastic bit to the left, right, leaving it in the middle, but nothing. What a pain.

Martin, i dont see anything like you describe on the flap, here is a piccie:

can you let me know if this looks like its missing a piece, please.

Spray some silicone spray into the plastic bits to free them up (or WD40). i doubt you have done any real damage with the washer. they look a bit dry and maybe you moved some dirt when washing which then dried. i always give mine a squirt annually as part of my preventative maintenance program.
