Wheel hub issue on way from collecting my Sport!

Can't believe it,

Picked up my 56 plate low mileage Range Rover Sport from Saxtons yesterday. apart from it not being ready despite 9 days to prep it I can't believe I got half way home and could smell burning. Stopped at a friends house and the rear wheel had grease spots all over it and grease was coming out of the hole on the silver hub behind the wheel. No bolt in it!

having done 30 miles at 85 mph I hope it's not knackered. Looking forward to them opening this morning, funnily enough ive got a few things I want to say. Car still at friends house.

On another note, if the interior had just been supaguard end, would I find evidence, I.e smell or shine? Paid for it but in their rush to get it ready I'm not convinced it was done.

Let's hope happier days are just round the corner.

Big Cry

Tell them to collect it and hopefully bodsy or flack can tell you how serious it is so you can decide wether to reject it Bow down

Not sure of what you have bought new or second hand, if new then it could be just a binding brake, but by your description it sounds like it might be second hand if the bolt that holds the disc on is missing. It could be the hole that should have a plastic blank in that is removed when you adjust the epb shoes.
Either way it needs to have the disc removed and checked out if its got that hot.

Flack Thumbs Up

He did say 56 plate so its not a newey. Sounds to me like Saxtons only did a crap job of the delivery inspection and prep

Giving them the benefit of the doubt until tomorrow when I drop in to get it sorted, if the words warranty get mentioned I'm not going to be responsible for my actions though. Simple mechanic mistake so if it gets sorted no fuss and fast I will be a happier customer. Got to give them a chance to rectify mistakes.

So far so good, very helpful and apologetic - collecting it and fixing it this afternoon.

Binding brake as it had new pads caused it to heat up and blow the rubber grommet out letting all the crap out of the hole the most likely problem.

Never known the rubber grommet to be blown out.....

Sounds Censored To me.....

It's getting warm because they have not adjusted the epb or possibly even installed the epb shoes properly....

You could show them my brake bible..... Whistle Bodsys Brake Bible

Well its there finally - not been looked at yet so still without a car for her indoors!!

At least I have my range rover glove box pack with manual etc so I can work out what buttons not to press.

Reserving judgement until I get it back (pronto please if you read this Saxtons) But I suppose I must be fair and say at Saxtons you pay the extra for the car initially so they do fix things like this - what would I be posting if I had bought from a smaller outfit - maybe moaning about getting a bill for it?

Looking forward to a happy ending.

What, no courtesy car? Getting a courtesy car usually speeds up the repair of your car. Wink
Hope you get it sorted first time. Thumbs Up
