Help getting drive shaft through wheel bearing

I've got to the stage of knocking the drive shaft through the front drivers wheel bearing. However I'm only managing to get it so far. I have my new part and I'm assuming the shaft needs to go through it all so I can remove and replace but I'm scared of doing any damage if I carry on striking it ..

Any help would be really appreciated I'm using the guide Kav777 put on here some time back and it's been brilliant upto where .....

This novice is starting to get worried incase he does his usual trick and gets to heavy handed !

Thanks in advance guys and I'm happy for any sniping jokes you can muster Laughing

What are you doing?
I need to change my lower arms soon and have to do the same thing as you are with the drive shaft
And don't really want to knock it to far or hard Confused

You have PM.

Note that the driveshaft doesn't come out, it just needs to be loosened as it sometimes gets stuck in the bearing. Once it is loose, undo the 4 hub bolts at the rear of the hub and pull it away from the driveshaft. When fitting new bearing ensure driveshaft is lined up first then bolt it to the car. Want to do a DIY job on your car? Check out the definitive 'how to' thread in the technical section Thumbs Up
