Audi SQ5

A possible alternative for all you unsatisfied RRS owners. Wink
Although i am very happy with my sport, this ticks quite a few of my boxes, especially when its specced up to my kind of level.

Looks as if it could be a serious bit of fun - probably very efficient and reliable to the point of not being as boring as the Q5 Thumbs Up

If you were sitting in JLR at the moment you surely ought to be stopping and thinking about how the QC and resulting reputation for unreliability and aftercare has got so bad.

However I suspect, rather like Merc about a decade ago and Ford in the early 80's things will need to get even worse before the arrogance is sufficiently dented for them to take note.

Perhaps JLR should let Audi/VW put the RRS together Rolling with laughter

Like a mirror its easy to break but a dam sight hard to put back together.

I drove one of them yesterday and can I just say WOW!!!!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
Sounds like a V8 petrol goes like a V8 petrol with a 0 to 60 in 5.1Sec very very responsive & handles really well the sales guy was very understanding! Rolling with laughter A real drivers car with 30+mpg I was very impressed. Only Demo's out on the roads at the moment Audi are taking orders for delivery September. Starting at £44,055 OTR by the time I'd added a few toys I was a tad over £53k They would only offer me £1000 off list price Big Cry

A real drivers car with a massive grin factor! Lacks toys as standard - could do with a body kit (or are Audi saving that for the RSQ5?? Bet one will be along shortly!!)

Build one here!!

Great, another glorified 4wd estate car. Limited towing capability and no proper off road ability.

Oh, and VAG reliability isn't all they'd love you to believe. I had a Golf that was probably as poor as the RRS - indeed, maybe worse as it lunched its gearbox at 66k miles.

If I was going to go down the VAG route, then the Touareg Escape looks to be very nice. Propoer towing capabilty and pretty decent off road too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

And what do you think the RRS Question Looks like Audi have noticed a gap in the market that most 4X4 owners don't ever go off road, if it didn't have 4wd then it wouldn't be able to handle all that power and torque, as far as towing is concerned 2.4 tonne is not a bad towing capacity and will cover quite a few vans and horse boxes, then again, how many people tow with their RRS Question Audi obviously listen to their feedback and their customers requests, its a shame L/R don't. Whistle Just my opinion though. Wink Yes L/R are the market leaders when it comes to 4x4's, but they are also the most unreliable. Whistle

Problem is (ignoring being an Audi) it's not going to cut anything like 4x4 conditions so may as well get a car? Mike

^^^^ hear hear!!

Off roaders will make up less than 5% of RRS owners and, over the life of the car, less than 1% of its miles.

More owners may occasionally need to tow across field etc and feel more secure in snow and winter driving. The Audi and most 4x4s will do most of that and, with more aggressive tyres, a lot more.

LRs are usually more competent in really challenging conditions but, lets be honest, JLR have just relied on a reputation built up years ago. Today the Toyota Land Cruiser and pickups are favoured by military forces worldwide because of poor LR reliability !!

Or you could buy the audi, also get a defender for propper off roading and not just for playing in puddles Laughing and still have change for the cost of a new RRS. Thumbs Up There's not many people do serious off roading in their RRS now is there. Question I know we are all going to be biased on here but for an everyday motor the audi is not a bad option. I know its probably not aimed at the RRS, probably more the Evoque. I'd be intrested to drive one and see how good or how bad they really are. Wink

This is a Range Rover Sport Forum, not an Audi Forum. The Audi SQ5 is quick but imagine having to look at it everyday and thinking that you drive a girl's car.

I have a discovery for hardcore stuff, my defender days have reduced!

i dont want a car for looks first - it has to perform, i have to know when i need it its ready to do what its bought for...fields, 4x4, snow, floods towing etc it has to be ready to do it and i have to know it can do it. Mike
