Hello, let me introduce in the Forum; this is my first post here.
I made a search before posting, but found nothing similar to my case. I have recently noticed a strange noise during motorway trips. It is a kind of "woooooh" sound coming from the car (it seems front of the car). This sound it's clearly noticeable between 120 and 140Km/h (75-87mph for your convenience), whereas it's barely audible (perhaps not present...) over 140 km/h or below 120 km/h.
In this same range (120-140), if I ease off the throttle the sound goes totally away, but when I reapply the throttle the noise comes back.
The car has 182000 Km (113000 miles) on it and has always been looked after, changed all belts and tensioners (excluding diesel fuel pump...) at 150000, new alternator (last year).
I'm scared to go to official Land Rover assistance, because two years ago, for a sudden loss of power during overtakings they hold the car for one month, without resolving the problem (and changing a lot of things, including software, for 1500 euros...). And it was a simple diesel fuel filter, diagnosed by a motorway service station !
So, any advice from you there will be greatly appreciated !!

Don't hold me to this but I had a similar noise on my last discovery. A guy at an indie said it is obviously drive train related and said I should change all the oil in the oil filled parts ( diff /transfer box ETC) or at least make sure the levels are correct. I was already p/xing my car in I'd only gone there to have my service book stamped as I'd forgotten to leave it in the car when it was service a couple of months eariler. So I didn't try it. but it may be a starting point 07 tdv8 stornoway grey at home tucked up

I'd check your intercooler pipe for any splits as this might create an audible tone in the car under certain boost.

@ awd man: no splits in pipes (luckily !) and no increased soot.

@ Corns-88: I'll check/change oil in all drive train related parts.

Concern: Noise (Whine or humming) from the front or rear differential. A minor oil leak may be evident with possible debris in oil. Oil will be black in color.
Cause: The casing black paint /sealer degrades, detaches and contaminates the oil.
This results in the oil overheating which results in oil seal leaks and bearing noise.
Note: Differentials from the VINs quoted below are manufactured with a new casing paint which overcomes the above mentioned issues.

Please only raise an EPQR for differential issues which occur post the quoted VIN numbers:
