Answering my own question, the blue connector in the photo above is the GPS aerial. I've now disconnected this and connected the end of the cable to a £10 magnetic mount GPS aerial which I've placed just behind the sharks fin. The cable from the new aerial is routed into the headlining space through a conveniently located rubber bung that was already there. Job done and all working as it should. Thanks for all the input guys, saved me a lot of time Very Happy

Re: Sat Nav Aerial - where is it?

Hi guys

Been having intermittent problems with my satnav for a while. Keeps losing the GPS signal, especially when it's raining. Having fiddled around with every connection and even changed the DVD disk, I eventually bought a cheap after-market magnetic GPS aerial, stuck it on the roof and plugged it into the back of the satnav unit under the passenger seat in place of the normal aerial connection. Bingo, everything working perfectly again Very Happy

Whilst this has temporarily fixed the problem, I would like to locate the original GPS aerial and fix it or replace it. I heard a rumour that it's somewhere in the tailgate spoiler?

Does anyone know if that's correct and if so, how to gain access? I can't see any easy way to get into the spoiler but maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Any tips gratefully received.

Jusy been advised to look at your problem as I am having similar Do you remember where you got your after market cheap gps arerial from

Mike, you need to type your post after the quote marks or it will be included in the quote. Suspect the poster is no longer active on this forum. There are v. cheap aerials on eBay like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Aerial-GPS-N...0760260394

But.. it is from Hong Kong so might take 3 weeks to arrive and then not work anyway Rolling with laughter

Similar looking aerials are available on Amazon and Maplin's for about £20 which seems a lot to spend on diagnosing a fault. Before you buy a test aerial it might be worth having a closer look at the shark fin especially where the cable joins it. That's the most obvious place for a problem to have occurred. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

My current RRS is a MY09 but it is the shallower fin - if the BT is not in there now where is it?
