First of many I'm sure

Hi guys new to the Range Rovers but loving the change or 'the norm' for me!

I have a quick question regarding the suspension if anyone can help?
The stance of the car looks better in the lowest suspension setting - I know this setting cab be locked is it ok to drive like this everyday? I didn't want to cause any damage or unnecessary stress on the suspension.

Thanks in advance

Thumbs Up

Jimmy

Hi Nick

Still better than an Evo mate!

Does it do any harm?

Have you tried it, it's kind of bouncy.
Besides I thought the lock is cancelled above a certain speed.

Hello Jimmy.

You can "lock" the suspension in "Crawl-mode" (locked at access height)
if You are driving in to a low garage or similar.
The car will stay at this low setting until You reach a speed of 22mph, then it will rise
to normal height.

This "low setting" is absolutely awful to ride in at any speed, since You have almost
no suspension at all and You will feel every wrinkle, paintmark and snailtrack in the road.

I am maybe stupid, but I thought that one of the many reasons people bought
this fine cars was the absolutely super air suspension..
To get the "magic carpet" feeling every time You take it for a spin..

My two cents of thought..

Hi Jimmy, there is an electronic gadget that is available which allows you to set the suspension height to whatever you want in millimetre adjustments giving you the best compromise between comfort and looks, might be worth a look MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

Thanks for the comments guys - I just think it looks much better lower but as mentioned i do love the drive... I haven't thought much about my evo which I'm very surprised about!!!

What are opinions on wheel sizes then guys, i think mine has 19" wheels (standard) what looks best - there are a few designs i like does anyone know a good site for wheels & accessories etc?

Thanks

Jimmy

Looks are subjective - I think the belly-on-the-floor look is, well, ridiculous but others love it. If you like the look better than the ride then drop the height. But be aware that you'll probably wear tyres quicker as well as potentially bottoming out the suspension on bumps.

As for wheels, again looks are subjective. I happen to hate the "big shiny wheels with short sidewalls" look characterised by 22inch rims. For me, the vehicle looks better with a 19inch rim and deeper sidewalls. It looks like a capable off road vehicle rather than something driven by chavs or drug dealers. But that's just me - judging by the preferences shown in this forum, there are a lot of drug dealers about... Whistle Rolling with laughter

If you use the search function I'm sure you'll find vast numbers of threads about 22 inch wheels Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

yes, it can be locked and there are people, or at least used to be here, who have the gadget that does it for you.

HOWEVER..... Yawn as every sensible gentleman on this forum I too think the ride in access mode is by far too sensitive. I do not think it does any damage though, except your reputation Laughing Thumbs Up Vadim A.

Driving in near 'access mode' height fCensoredk that Shocked

I was in London at the weekend and pulled out of a car park, the car was locked in access mode as there was a low roof on the NCP car park. The 500 odd yards I did out on the street before the suspension raised nigh on killed me (and the passengers) with the poor roads and potholes around the West End.

Hi Everyone

Thought i would stay off for a few weeks while i get used to my sport and how things work etc.

I'm still enjoying it very much and don't regret selling my EVo at all Thumbs Up

I have a few questions if anyone can help..

looking at using the roof box this summer - Do i need to fit the long rails as well as the cross rails or can i just buy the cross rails? I can see small round plastic covers in the roof so i assume these are the fixing points???

Also cant seem to find blue tooth at all i have looked through the manual and followed the instructions but not even on the devices list - is there another way to tell if it has blue tooth it may be broken???

Thanks in advance for any pointers

Jimmy

OOOps nearly forgot - I get the occasional message - "Transmission range change not available" it has been showing more regular in the last week but always re sets on start system check.
I have told the garage who are going to have it looked at - nothing changes ie performance???

I'm assuming you already have the normal roof rails, the spot towards the front on the plastic is for an Expo Roof Rack, front leg. As long as yoiu have the normal roof rails, (T-Track) then you can use the normal pair of cross bars for the roof box fitted into the T-Track.

On the Steering wheel, right hand side, is there a Red and Green phone button? If not, then you dont have Blutooth.
It can be retro fitted though Thumbs Up

your transmission raneg change not available messages are probably due to a low battery. Have you tried charging the battery? I'm guessing that you dont really get the chance to give it a long run where you live!

To be able to install a roof box you need:
1. roof rails
2. cross bars

Then the roof box is attached to the cross bars. I had the sports box installed and the 4x4 looked A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Such a bad ass! Unfortunately I have damaged the roof box... Nevertheless, going to Monaco this summer and getting another sports box again Laughing Vadim A.

Thanks for the comments guys

Bodsy - i dont have any rails on the roof - i saw a kit on a range rover website im sure was £130.00 for all the bars but will have to check again.
I dont have the telephone buttons on the steering wheel either... Sad

the message i am getting is very random - not specifically when i brake or drive with foot to the floor. It hasnt appeared since Tuesday Rolling Eyes - although we are on a small island it defo gets used enough.
Bodsy I also saw an older thread from you regarding an updated disc to put into the car - is this for sat nav too?

I will have to take out my disc and see what version or date is on it - do you know what the latest is? We are off to south of france at the end of july so if it needs updating i will do it before we go.

Vadim thanks for your reply - do you have a photo?

Cheers guys

Thumbs Up
