Rhino Alloys Preston, Stay Well Clear!

Hi chaps,

I just thought I'd post up my experiences with Rhino Alloys in Preston so everyone else can learn from my misfortune.

I sent four 20" wheels down to them for diamond cutting. They had already been professionally powder coated in gloss black so they were ready for diamond cutting on the lathe.

After telling Steve on the phone that I wanted the wheels diamond cutting to OE spec he reassured me that this would be done and the alloys would be returned to me 3-4 days later.

5 days later I was told the wheels were ready and in Steve's words 'spot on' ... so I paid over the phone and the wheels were sent back to me.

This is the 'spot on' / 'OE' finish I received:-

They charged me £500 for the process and are refusing to take any responsibility for the awful finish. I have also been informed that there will be no refund whatsoever.

The worst thing is the wheels cannot be diamond turned again so I will never get the OE finish I was looking for.

I know lots of folk on here have the 20" 'style 8' Autobiography wheels, if you need them re-cutting please go elsewhere!

That is shocking. Really p*sses me off when someone gets treated like that.

I wouldn't hesitate to take them to the Small Claims Court - do it yourself online. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Still possible via the bank I believe. Inform the bank you paid over the phone in good faith, yet the job was below standard.
With a valid case, they should be able to assist. Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

As its a customer not present transaction the bank will always side in your favour.

I deal with chargebacks on a daily basis unfortunately!

The key is how you word it to your bank. You need them to see you didn't authorise the transaction.

You may have given them your details however, as bc said, not for the job they actually carried out.

Yup, I'd say you gave details over the phone so as to save you time when you picked them up, but given the shoddy job, you didn't authorise the them to take a payment and they have charged you anyway. Wink

As V88 says....it's all about how you word it with your bank Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Shocked Shocked Shocked

Thats Censored terrible, I would pursue them through the small claims court as its not just about getting a refund, they have Censored your wheels and as your unable to get them turned again I would be wanting them to cough up for a complete new set, inc balancing and fitting of your tyres.

What ever you do get loads of dated pics and if possible dont fit these back on your car as they could just say they were fine when they left them and have been used since etc etc as things like this dont usualy get sorted overnight.

I know Sparky its very disappointing. I must also add that the M.D of the company is completely ignoring me he doesn't return any calls or emails which just adds to the frustration of the whole thing!

As you suggest I should be asking for a new set never mind just my money back ... I'll never be able to get this set looking new again. I will have to have them shot blasted and powered coated (for the second time!).

Anyway I have called my bank and told them all the facts. As you say V88ABA & BC it looks like they will be able to reverse the charge even though I foolishly paid on a debit card. I think you may have saved me hours of hassle / small claims court! Thumbs Up

Will keep you posted.
