speed cameras can now be downloaded onto the Sat Nav

At last, Land Rover have listened. On my 2013 RR/sport black it is now possible to import your own POIs onto the in car sat. nav. In my case I have imported the gpx speed camera files from pocketgpsworld via usb onto the car satnav including audible warnings & symbols.
I haven't taken it on a test run yet as I live a few miles from my nearest camera, but they are all showing on the map.
Also, I've just read that the headlamps no longer need to be adjusted for foreign travel.
It pays to read the handbook now & again.
regards to all
P

how I did it.

1.. get a blank usb dongle, formatted to FAT or FAT32. 1.. make a folder labelled PersonalPOI. go to the website pocketgpsworld.co.uk & download "other GPX" files onto dongle & open zip files into PersonalPOI folder. You need to subscribe to pocketgpsworld to get files, although I'm certain a hunt will find other gpx files somewhere on internet.
Then go to vehicle & put usb dongle into usb socket under centre console. From here on I'm copying instructions from page 147 of handbook.
1... From NAV menu, touch MORE.
2...select STORED LOCATIONS
3...touch MY POI
4..select ADD to individually select each POI group to be downloaded. (there are 2 files from pocketgps, mobile & static. I selected both you then get a screen saying DOWNLOADING, when finished
select EDIT to change NAME or ICON (I didn't change anything) or SOUND icon.

That's It.

It would be great if it was possible to "borrow" some files to see if this would irk on MY12 without having to subscribe for a year Question MY12 RRS SDV6 HSE

Just 13my and 13.5my accept downloaded POI's! Confused

I've not used it myself yet but would be interested to know if you have to have a route set and sound on for it to work? My guess is that you need to set a sound for the icon if you want advance warning of a POI whilst traveling Whistle otherwise you'd have to keep watching the screen!

MY13 onwards Shocked , is there a really a difference from that is in the MY12 Question
Presumably a 'software update' could cure it though Idea ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I'm kidding.... perhaps should have saved that until tomorrow!! Laughing

13my is a few tweaks to the software, pretty much all related to Nav. Main things are downloadable POI's, lane guidance (road signs)and a few changes to the number of steps to 'destination entry' depending on where you are in the system.

What do you mean by lane guidance, what I would like is a indicator of the speed limit for the current road. I miss not having that from the Volvo. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

It works perfectly

Ok, just been on a test run & can report it works perfectly. There is an audible warning as you approach the camera & a second warning when you reach it. I'm not sure if this advance warning is down to pocketgps's files, or what's built into the satnav. I guess if you put audible warning on the already existing pois this would confirm it. It also quietens the wireless, to make the warnings clearer. I haven't worked out if the timing of the first warning can be altered, as it's ok at 30mph, but it may be a bit short at higher speeds.
There is no need to have a route planned, they are displayed all the time, but I assume if zoomed out too far they like the other pois will not be visible.
The audible warning was working without the wireless on.

regards to all
P

Ive had this on for a while (great video of how to do it on the discovery site) - one thing that i dont have is the database (got a really old one to try). Dont know if anyone has a later database?

As mentioned above there are a few sat nav software 13MY changes, including it being a bit quicker...there is also an update that im having applied in a few weeks which is supposed to change a number of things according to the dealer - but i bet its only minor improvements. Mike
