@ Dave - I think that sums it up, they just don't 'get' watches Thumbs Up

They're not alone: I really fail to see the point of paying several grand for a watch that doesn't even work that well. I mean, a watch has one function - to tell the time. What's the point of a watch that can't even do that properly?

Would anyone like to buy this bridge? It only spans 9/10ths of the river but it looks really nice... Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

1975 Rolex seadweller. Been to bottom of North Sea, Gulf, Indian Ocean, South China Sea, Pacifc etc. Will give it to my son once I retire from the sea. Been serviced a few times, still looks like new. That and Mr G shock for when rolex is getting serviced. SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile

Breitling. Always Breitling. Navitimeter for show ( my original now 25 years old) and the Aerospace for work.
Having a watch simply to tell the time is like having a push bike instead of a RRS

anyone recommend a good place for a watch purchase in Leeds/yorkshire, thinking it will be a nice memento to purchase from my grandad who past away recently

Thinking a new or a nice example second hand one, Prefer Solid watches with crono dials on face, good solid metal bracelets

Had a look at some Omegas, also the Tag Heuer shop at York, but the tags seamed to have a very flimsy bracklet

Can't help with a shop Nick, but the Omega straps are generally very solid and well made.
I have a 'De Ville' (Stainless steel/gold) and a 'Constellation' (Stainless steel) and they fit the wrist very nicely Thumbs Up

A very good friend of the family is a jeweller that gets a good range of watches in; Omega, Hublot, Rolex etc

I've just bought a Rolex Submariner off him today, PM me if you'd like his details etc.

i thought the omega bracelets were good when looking, i expect to be round the £2k mark, but might put a little extra in for the right watch

For that sort of money, assuming it's your taste, you could also look at Rolex, their 'Oyster' style bracelet is very robust also. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
