Brrrrr.... Aux Heater

Hi Guys

Lots of threads re this heater and heart stopping moments (when you think your engines on fire!! I did this too.. Embarassed ), but cannot see anything about how quick the cabin should actually warm up when the aux heater kicks in, its definably working as I can see the exhaust fumes from underneath engine bay on start up.

I have read that the temp gauge should move up quicker?, but I seem to have to travel 10 minutes or so before it start to get up to temp (this maybe working normally) I have no idea... Sad

Any comments / advice appreciated please. Thumbs Up

That's an interesting question as I have never really paid attention in 8 years of owning these cars. Am sure it warms up reasonably quickly compared to the three hours my L200 takes to blow warm/hot air. If the FBH is firing up, it will be warming the water system but as far as I can gather, it warms the entire cooling system including the block so its never going to generate instant heat. Sounds like you may need the remote heater start system as sold by I think, a site sponsor. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈

If it's getting up to full temperature (on the gauge) in 10 minutes then it's working fine. Mine does it in about that time from a 0 degC start. When it wasn't working recently, the gauge didn't get fully up to temp in much less than 20 minutes. So there is a noticeable difference. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for the responses.

I think it is working correctly then.

I think I will look into the remote device that sounds like fun!!

Thumbs Up
